Yeah the secondary objectives are mainly to screw with you. I dunno if you tried going for speedruns to unlock cheats but it's hillarious attempting that on the first few missions where you have to deal with the datadyne elevator rng.

I kind of hated fighting the fire tribe, mainly because of the fucking flamethower foxes. I've got a feeling their attack must be bugged or some shit because sometimes if I get hit by a fairly long burst it'll set me on fire seemingly indefinitely until I eventually just die. I'm no programmer so I've got no idea how exactly all that shit works but I'm guessing every time it applies the burning effect it extends the burning effect duration. I doubt the dev intended that and probably just intended for it to reset the duration of the effect. If it was a deliberate design decision though, it's a really shitty one.

It's impressive how "modern" Perfect Dark feels when playing with proper controls.
It has leaning, localized damage, crouching, all the standard fps features and yet it felt so limited in the n64

It's a PS1 game so the OST is great quality. Everything about the game is, really. They knocked it out of the park, this is my FFVII. Could play it over and over again, the characters and story and setting are just awesome to get lost in.

yeah, the no vr version should run alright on something like a 750 ti, it's got alien: isolation levels of optimization

That's probably using the method where you just draw geometry on the other side, the floor texture is transparent. There's custom texture work on the reflected side so it fades it blue and they don't have to model the whole room twice
