I much prefer Stahn to Shing honestly, although I admit Shing being really horny is funny enough, Stahn is a dumbass but he also feels more fleshed out than Shing in most respects due to his friendship with Dymlos and Woodrow being a good role model for him coupled with his rivalry with Leon.
Shing didn't really have much of of that for the most part, his rivarly with Hisui isn't really that good until later on and he mostly feels like a background character in the original game, R made some changes I did not like but the addition of Galad also made wonders for Shing in particular since Galad ends up being a father figure to him and the rest of the party outside of Ines who used to be the party's mom in the original game.

Imo Destiny's first run doesn't really let you appreciate much of the game because admittedly it's still the second game in the series even when it comes to DC so some parts are very barebones, but DC does add a lot of meat to the game and I think there's a lot of good moments here and there like Woodrow's arc, Stahn VS Dymlos etc., it's just that the game is very, very 90's shonen anime so if you weren't alive back then to watch that kind of stuff it probably won't mean anything to you.
Also I'm biased since I played both OG Destiny and DC before Hearts, and as much as I do prefer Hearts R as a whole Destiny still has a special place for me, together with Eternia.

Eternia's another kind of hit or miss in that it's very old school, it was my first Tales so I'm super biased towards it and it's sort of where the series really comes into its own in terms of story beats, characters and battle system.
Imo if you come from newer games you can appreciate it for being the forefather of a lot of ideas like proper hi-ougi, Extensions (Hilda and Eugene's extensions originally come from Eternia), the monk archetype Farah introduced that Regal and her successors will elaborate upon...there's a lot to appreciate, but at the same time it is dated in a lot of ways and the oldass story of two planets with incredibly racist people will probably be really old after all those games, especially things like Symphonia or Arise which pretty much reuse 90% of the story beats.
All I can tell you is that even if the gameplay and major story beats will feel archaic and boring, the cast is worth it, Farah especially is a very good heroine and to this day she's one of the more endearing imo, Meredy is so cute it cures Keele's racism and...Max and Chat are kinda there I guess.
Legendia's very divisive and I myself am not really a fan, gameplay wise and direction wise it's a hot mess and you'll probably hate it especially if you dislike Symphonia since for the most part it's a very odd "one step forward three steps back" deal in terms of gameplay, Legendia's strength lies in the music and the odd cast, the cast is pretty good but with all the good will in the world it's hard to look past all the other problems despite having some really good characters arcs, it's a very love or hate kind of deal imo.

I think anything 3D is going to get ported just because it's easy enough. The 2D games will require a different approach, but it will be nice to have possibly near everything on the platform that is always the best for archiving.

I'm fine with it. I beat the originals before, usually multiple times, so I'll grab all the convenient things first. Hopefully they have Ludger's voice unlockable from the beginning in 2. Having him mute on your first playthrough kinda sucks.

I swear I'm in fucking bizarro world when I read this shit every thread. Destiny has a generic template story, but good combat and puzzles. The second half that plays to its strengths is better than the first. I only wish more games in this series had the same kind of pacing it did, where you spent 5 minutes in cutscenes for every 5 hours of gameplay. Multiplayer is a huge draw of Tales for me, so being able to just get on it with it is really appreciated.

I'll never understand the Abyssfags in these threads that prefer an arc 2 where all you do is fly back and forward between towns watching cutscenes over and over.

I love and miss stylized anime art, however stylized anime art is really unpopular among normalfags. It's not that people can't draw like that anymore it's that nobody is choosing to, because most artists nowadays are on the internet and you will not generate an audience if you do that. All internet artists shift their style towards what is popular, and if you go around stylizing the proportions, using messy line effects, or using black space you get shit on. Normalfags would shit talk Dragon Ball's art style if it didn't have staunch defenders who won't let you do that, and even when it shows up in Dragon Quest a lot of people hate it before being told they can't criticize it as it's a distinctive style with a great handling of anatomy. I'll even defend Magic Knight as an art style just because its so distinctive and weird looking. I love that shit, but it's not marketable at the moment until some youtuber tells normalfags it looks nice.

Replayed the original around 7 months ago through RPCS3.
Scenarios' textures had a nice boost and everything is so smooth now. Probably comparable to Twilight Princess HD, where everything was murky and low res as fuck on NGC but fixed by that released.
