Although I gotta say I'm getting a little fed up with how it's becoming increasingly clear that Switch 1 was like a 8 years long beta test. The moment they make Switch 2, they say "Okay, here's the REAL version of all those games you bought and played for years."
And would these games even be getting updates if they didn't need an easy way to pad out the Switch 2 lineup? It's cheaper than making a whole new game, but it was practically unheard of for a game to get no updates for four years, then out of nowhere they decide it's time for some more. Yet now they're doing it for a shitload of games.

Why did I like animal crossing as a kid on gamecube, but got bored after 30 minutes playing new horizons. I told myself that new horizons focused way too much on customizing homes/decorating/customizing the island. But now that I think abotu it, that was about all there was to do on the gamecube version.

The Switch was literally this to the Wii U, what kind of retardation is this? We even got XBCX Definitive Edition finally. It's just how Nintendo does their release cycle nowadays, they pad the year 1 lineup with ports, upgrades, remasters, remakes, special editions, etc. of the last gen's games. You've only got so many years to live brotherman, 8 fucking years later isn't "le beta testing" shit, it's the normal cycle for a release and rerelease now, and oftentimes it's even shorter than that. Moreover for most of them it's just minor performance upgrades, like Pokemon and the S2 paid upgrade thing. In fact, they literally did the exact same fucking thing for the free update with the extra content back in New Leaf, came back to it after ages of nothing but spotpass items.

With the Switch it kind of made sense because 1) The Switch wasn't backwards compatible with the Wii U and 2) The Wii U as a whole was a massive bomb so it was a way to "try again" with titles that had previously failed.
Switch 1 doesn't have either of those problems. It was a huge success. I don't deny that remasters are already common, but this specific "Switch 2 Edition" is definitely a new angle we haven't seen before.

Hey that was me.I don't feel silly becauas this came out of the blue and the last major updates were back in 2021, maybe 2022 time frame. Happy they finally updated it because I thought they abandoned it altogether back then.
And yeah it seems like they are doing what they did with the WiiU by porting a lot of those games onto the Switch 1. Only this time its a bit lame since it seems like most of the Switch 2's games are ports or minor port enchancements.

What do you mean by that, it has terraforming so you can change it however you want. Plus this is the game where nobody moves out unless you let them so if you take a few years off the game you don't have to worry about all the houses getting moved around and smashing your decor.

That's correct. The game is heavily based around time progressing and figures it out internally by assuming that 30 frames = one second passed. Some light lag, or lack of in the Switch 2 version, wouldn't have a noticeable impact but a constant doubling of the framerate to 60fps would completely mess things up.

The only thing I prefer about the old ACs is the Gamecube one where the rain had its own theme song and if it rained it would rain the whole day. I don't like how in the other games rain just comes and goes and if you're unlucky you only get a few minutes before it's gone. Other than that I prefer NH.

- Villagers that come and go as they please. Letting you choose your villagers is one of the main reasons NL and NH feel more repetitive than the older games. The old games forced you to rotate villagers with diverse personalities that kept interactions with them "fresh" for longer, while in NH a lot of people tend to collect villagers with the same personality, making interactions dull and repetitive once they exhaust their dialogue pools.
- Unbreakable tools (minus the non-golden versions of the axe).
- Flea markets. Why they abandoned this cool feature is beyond my understanding.
- Saturated colors. Granted, this is a subjective point, but seriously, since the transition to HD, all of Nintendo's games have more washed out colors compared to the SD era.

Most flaws NH has like villagers being bland and lack of progression are too late to fix and I would rather have a new game have those changes where everything is a fresh slate. Just adding some new villager lines or new shop upgrade six years later when everyone's run the game dry isn't going to change much.
