It happened last gen, but it was late, the first I noticed was starting with the announcement of totk being 70 dollars, then palworld released (this is well before the lawsuit) and people went wild, seemingly forgetting that nintendo is not gamefreak people started doing shit like spamming nintendo's twitter with shit about pirating their games and palworld somehow destroying them. Next there was the "character looking at things" patent which led to a few other patents causing seethe, then finally the flood of totk hate, the lawsuit, and the switch 2 reveal.

Honestly, it seems insanely astroturfed, except for the zelda hate, since I cant remember a single 3d zelda to release that didnt have people losing their fucking minds over it.
