What is a game you liked as a kid that doesn't hold up at all? For me it's this. It's a crafting-based RPG where resources drops are so low it's almost comical.

FFX and Kingdom Hearts

The games are okay, but man I played through them multiple times as a teenager. Weird how I can barely stand them now

OoT is legitimately boring as fuck when I've tried to go back to it. Empty soulless map, boring NPCs, stale bossfights, etc.

Literally the only interesting part about the game. But it's also completely missable unless you are told about it ahead of time. Swordcraft Story features a bunch of brilliant design decisions such as:

- At the start of the game you choose 1 out of 4 companions to accompany you for the rest of the story. This is done using a horoscope questionnaire. Of the four, only two of them can talk. You are never once informed of this.
- The game has a single dungeon with Pokemon-style random encounters at an absurdly high rate.
- Resource drops are absurdly stingy. Random crates only drop something about 10% of the time. Most random encounters give you nothing.
- All sidequests are missable. Said side quests are only available for one day, seemingly chosen at random. Solving said quests requires gifting away your best weapons. In return you get crafting recipes. If you look closely, perhaps you see the problem.

What are you talking about? In the middle of the game I had 999 in nearly everything. You can also buy materials at shops

I'm talking about the item-trade sidequests. They are only available for one day, meaning you need to grind for them as they come along. You can't delay them for later when getting resources is easier, because the game designers are insane.

This game was sooo fucking good man. Legit painfuly nostalgic vibes knowing I will never experience it again like it did at 12 on an emulator for the first time T_T

I actually still love this game even if some of the companions are annoying as fuck

I didn't find any of them particularly annoying. Though I barely remember the robot or the stuffed animal. Rasho was cool

That's because the robot and bunny don't talk.

I was mostly talking about the pink fairy thing, I liked it when I was a 12 year old weeb. But after trying to go back and replay it she's actually terrible and I feel almost embarrassed to play the game even though no one is going to know.

Thankfully the others are alright

Yeah Sugarette's clingy routine could get kind of silly.

Yeah, though I can somewhat forgive it cause at the time I guess it wasn't as bad.
Still the way they wrote her just didn't age well at all
