>How and why is it unhealthy?
It was turning them into shit. It turned Doned into a traitor to his own brother, a backstabber, a schemer, there's no doubt he would have no trouble turning into a fratricide next, for the new Ivalice worked like a drug for him. It made Mewt regress into a toddler mentally-wise, someone with no will, no determination, someone who has to constantly cry for others to do his wishes because he can't do anything of his own, the wishgranter did him the worst.
Contrary-wise, because Marche wanted to be out of it, he's the one that grew the most as a person, something even Ritz came to admit. Ritz was a fence sitter, she both wanted to remain there for longer but knew it would have to end eventually so she wasn't affected neither positively nor negatively.

>There's nothing like that in FFTA. No reason they can't just stay forever.
>They forgot to add stakes.
They were turning worse the more they were in the fantasy, Mewt for instance would end up a stunted crybaby for all his life. Doned would end up a psycopath.

>Marche's reasons have nothing to do with what was really going on
You didn't played the game, Marche specifically states how the fantasy was playing into what affected Mewt mentally the most, and that's his reasoning to end the illusion.
