Amnesia the Dark Decent had superb audio design when it came to low sanity that was unnerving and super creepy. Also the light mechanic was good and tense when you don't know which light source to ignite with your limited tinderboxes, unsure of whether it'll make monsters see you better. Always in motion between light and shadow to manage your sanity while avoiding monsters.

I watched all of them beside the bunker one on yt multiple times. There's no better than the original. Machine for Pigs is The Chinese Room slop and Rebirth is tacky, convoluted, and weak in gameplay and story, despite it giving us a peak of the lovecraftian parallel dimension and its technology, which was interesting.
So only bother with the first one.
It is a staple of the genre and an inspiration for many modern horror/survival horror games that followed, especially in style, tone, design choices, gameplay, themes, and mechanics.
