The extreme amount of versatility and funny hijinx the game lets you get up to with its physics system is a lot of fun and something that is sorely lacking from all other RPGs on the market. It seems so obvious to let players pick up environmental wine casks and throw them onto fire to let them explode or push enemies off cliffs to their death in stylish ways but it's actually extremely rare for games to allow this kind of freedom.
It's not just about making it mechanically possible, either. They also are careful to design the encounters and dungeon layouts to set up a lot of chances to do funny little things like knock snipers off of high places or burning webs an enemy is standing on. In most games, you're lucky if the devs even bother to put an exploding barrel with some enemies around it once in the game.

Now, they already do all of that and more in the Divinity series, but the Divinity series sucks because it had the gay ass point based action system which sucks. Having the much more streamlined dnd move + action system is a way better fit for this kind of thing.

Other Larian CRPGs. The truth is most CRPG developers are really fucking lazy when it comes to actually making combat mildly interesting. Owlcat's lategame combat is straight up tedious. Solasta has a better implementation of 5e and almost no one plays it because the characters have potato faces and the voice acting is mediocre at best. Cinematics matter more than anything else when appealing to the masses. If the games you mentioned had BG3's graphics and mocap, they would've sold shitloads more. i did cause its all i had at the time to game with when it came out. framerate is ass starting in late act 1, like low teens in any populated area, and act 3 is very rough especially the end fights where turns take like 15 minutes for the AI to move. some of that may have been fixed and its not the kind of game that needs a high framerate so i consider it playable but dont expect a great experience
