Is this a valid reason for nodev?

Everything wrong with the gaming and anime industry right now is because the core producer of them are geeks raised up on the medium.
You can't produce any relevant piece of art if you have no life experiences.

Did a post from 1,5 years ago really buckbreak you so much that not only does it live rent free in your head, you thought making a topic about it 1,5 years later wouldn't be utterly pathetic?

While it can be part of it yes, it's really not as big of an issue as you think.
There are tons of people crying on /v/ all the time that there are people working on games that don't play games, hurr durr.

Nope, it's a classic coping mechanism. Rationalizing inaction, because it's easier to overcome yourself and do something.
Its an evolutionary thing, brain users a lot of energy and learning is extremely energy consuming activity. So instead of trying something you make up excuses like "I don't have the skills", "nothing will come out of it", "I don't want to make same games everyone does". So you end up doing nothing, cherishing the dream of actually making a game. Hell, making anything, finishing anything. You dream that and then you die with nothing to left after yourself.
If you're okay with such ends, keep dreaming.

Counterpoint: The best romance is written by virgins for virgins.

It's not entirely wrong but not entirely right either. A large factor as to why older media in general was better is because the people making it had the money to actually live life and draw from it. As opposed to the only experience most people have today being media itself.

Only women can be virgins & I dislike women writers.

>Waste 5 years of your life learning skills and making a game.
>it flops and drowns in the sea of trash.
You'd make more money out of translating doujinshi or generating AI slop.
Gaming is dead, it's fine though cause we've got over 40 years of gaming history to catch up on.

Yes both are correct. Games are best made by people who play video games and have life experience outside of videogames. Video games made by people who only consume video games tend to be derivative slop copies of existing games and people who never play video games make shit games most of the time.

It really doesnt take much experience for inspiriation.

Miyamoto made Zelda because he entered a cave as a kid.
Just go for a walk for an hour and you will find the same amount of inspiration that he did.

The only "valid" reason is that you don't want to make a game. Anything else is just cope and retarded.

one day we'll be able to generate AI games, then anyone will be able to make anything.

This is just retarded self-hatred. The only valid reasons to be non-creative is because of skill issue, lack of interest, or the fact you're only in it for fame/money.

Life experience is a spook. The key is to be curious and pay attention to things that few people pay attention to. In fact actual life experience is worthless if you don't do this.

Yes because it means you're incapable of making a game if you genuinely think your games are going to clog up any scene.
Hundreds of games are released daily, possible 2 have been released since I've been typing this. None of them are clogging up anything, none of them exist. They simply for all intents and purposes, don't exist.

What's actually wrong with gaming and anime is that most of its made to make profit
The real soul games are made in rpg maker to fulfill some obscure fetish

Yeah no shit. You can't call it experience if you aren't experiencing it.

Okay and then what? Do I also make Zelda but have it happen in forests instead of caves? How is that original? That's the problem. Games have been invented already and everything I could make would be derivative of what I've played.

the only reason to nodev is if you've got a job at a big tech company, and you've got to set up a tent in your office to satisfy your corporate overlords

Maybe i'm a golem or its because they pay me overtime but sleeping at the office and eating microwave garbage in a grind workbinge for weeks straight can be fun. Takes a toll on your health but idk i get tetris effect from it.

Except for MUDs and other niche thing developed on university computers, games were always made for profit.
Difference is then (90s), you could ship something on a team of 5 with a 300 000 budgets, sell 20 000 copies and it being considered a success.
