i think luigi and daisy love eachother but in a platonic sorta way, theyre everything peach wants (peach wants mario to love her as much as she loves him and fails to realise the main thing that makes luigi and daisy's relationship work is their unprompted friendliness for eachother, which mario does actually give to peach, its just that peach is more used to "elegant" stories, so the idea of a relationship forming from just friendship rather than some grand story where mario saves her from the beast for the 100th time flies right over her head.
she also intentionally makes herself vulnerable for bowser to set this up, she doesnt know that shes doing it subconsciously though)
i really love this animation btw, its really neat and i love how much personality was put into it, i know theres lots of emotion in their other cartoons but its usually more for the sake of comedic effect entirely, so you dont really see much of stuff where youre genuinely invested in how all the characters interact with eachother in this pocket dimension of an interpretation. their take on luigi and daisy's dynamic was a very fresh take on the usually pretty clean and neat shipping interpretations on mario, the internet did need a new "what if the mario cast was fucked up and i basically made them into my own characters lol" cartoon.
i wish less people would be diehard against one or the other because luigi was incredibly inebriated and daisy really tried her best to play it cool and not make anyone too uncomfortable. of course, its totally possible luigi is just a dick, but theres a lot of little details that people look over and its a lil lame. especially considering that singular scene, while still being very good, takes up way too much attention, to the point people form opinions before they've even watched the whole toon, im sure things couldve went a bit different if the situation was a bit different.
