Every time I make a wotr character concept I have to somehow try to make it fit with the mythic paths which just doesn’t work
The extremely generic mythic paths in the actual ttrpg are way better, mostly being just "class but really, unusually strong" rather than super specific like angel or lich

This is some next level mindfuckery. Why make respect cost time? If it breaks immersions to have re-training be instantaneous then why not make the respec NPC pop up after the attack on the inn? Yeah it means the feature becomes available slightly later but at least it skips on the mindboggling insanity of having a cheerful dude in the corner of the inn who offers friendly free service that eats 1/3 of your missable content time limit. This shit lives rent free in my head. And yes I know that the three days are technically "3 rests" and you even lose a rest if you press the rest button and then cancel. He talks like he's a big deal, he's a no-nonsense professional killer for a hire not an adventurer out there for having fun, he is introduced going invisible and one-shotting a demon captain in a cutscene, and you have to pay to recruit him in your party, so everything about this character says that he should be outstanding in battle.

But then he's just meh. And he continues to be meh in future scenes after his introduction. Even Woljif would be more believable as a professional that you'd pay thousands of gold for specialized stealth service rather than this guy.

People say this a lot but I honestly can't really remember the last time a game pulled it. AC2 is the only example I can really think of off the top of my head and even that's both more Ezio being done with him after shattering his life's work and, the better answer, them just handling the secret history part poorly rather than any moral spiel. I guess the Batman Arkham games are perhaps a given but even there he outright says he doesn't think some of the patients can be rehabilitated. Angel is without a doubt the best and most well crafted path, imo.

There's no "jumping through hoops", and it feels insanely cheap, like the answer to everything is some saturday morning cartoon shit, like your special snowflake artists and gnomes on ponys that can kill the Demons without issue somehow, while armies of professionally trained soldiers couldn't do anything.

YMMV, but I found it super lame. Gold Dragon was at least fairly fun.

No. In Pathfinder gods and demigods don't even have levels or stats, this is to represent that they are basically impossible for any mortal to fight against.

That being said, anyone can become a Legend, they do not need an external power like the mythic paths need. You just happened to have the mythic power forced on you, and when you rejected it, it ended up showing your true human potential.
There is another Legend in the game and he visits you if you also go Legend. He never had any mythic powers and simply became absurdly strong, you can even recruit him as a general and he's basically unkillable but by that point in the game it's kind of pointless anyway because most of those battles are over anyway (or so easy to win you don't need an invincible general).

You'd be equivalent of about a CR32-36 (depending on stats/classes)
This means youd be above any statted Demon Lord, Archdevil, or Horseman in the game, as well as the other alignments. You'd be alongside unstatted creatures like Areshkagal (who does not have stats nor a fight in the tabletop game), but unlikely to be at a Core God level. You'd probably be at about Kurgess' level, able to give domain powers if people started actually worshiping you. Kurgess himself is a demigod.

But other than that, why would they care? It's not as if anything that happens in your campaign has any relevance outside of it. Killing one demon lord is not that unbelievable or unlikely in the setting.

Everyone agrees that the crystal mining in the abyss is a massive problem that needs to be fixed asap and that the mythic commander is the best person suited for the task who will be helped by his companions and the herald of a goddess, but ordering you to do it is suddenly a petty act of jealousy and a suicide mission that no one would have tried to do. That's not the point. Yes, the game presents it as an irrational and petty decision to send you out on a suicide mission. The problem is that the whole premise of it being a petty suicide mission is stupid. You need to go to the Abyss to stop the production of crystals and potentially learn more about their powers so you still need to do it, regardless of whatever Galfrey or any of your companions say. And the Herald personally goes with you to help you.
By just changing a few lines when the order is given, it changes from a dangerous but vital task in order to close the Worldwound into a spiteful display that is later used to call Galfrey a shit commander.

Aeon was extremely fun for me as my first playthrough. I went with cleric of Asmodeus. I had hellknight reasonning: we cooperate because demons need to be destroyed.
I RP him like a mastermind, managing to hide his true alegiance while making the crusade more and more aligned with devils.
However, devil path is really late, and that means that what took and seduced my my char was the Aeon, and the Aeon made me more lawful and less evil. I ended up betraying the devils.
Even more, I had a terrific Dr. Manhattan moment. I managed to romance Galfrey as a Cleric of Asmodeus, something that was hilarious. However, by the time the romance is actually happening I was already more Aeon than Man.
I went through the motions, having the romance scene, having sex, all performative, in imitation of the man I once was, knowing that after that, I would undo reality and nobody would remember.
In my world, nobody remembered. I just took it all away...
