WotC sees the money they could've gotten if they were making it in-house instead of licensing it out. But they're too stupid to realize that they dont' have the in-house talent to make a BG3, and they won't see the success BG3 did.

There is no way i could foresee this.
The only real Issue which was fixed like a month after launch was companions triggered their romance way too early so you could have least seen the start before cutting it without really trying but that again got fixed and on top of that
