I think the absolute floor for how many they sell in the October/November/December quarter is 7 million, and if they ship enough, it could easily be as high as 9 million. It's never really felt like an even Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft console war to be honest. The GC and OG Xbox were so far behind the PS2 that it didn't really matter. And that was the only time it felt like they were competing. The Wii did its own thing while the 360 and PS3 warred, the Wii U didn't exist and Nintendo mainly focused on 3DS, and the Switch was its own thing again. Sony was great before the PS3 came out. Even the PS3, as terrible as it was at launch, had really consumer-friendly ideas like free online multiplayer, backwards compatibility with PS1+PS2 (even despite the problematic architecture), no region locks, etc. And the PS2 had Linux support so you could turn your old PS2 into a Linux workstation.
You have to understand that Sony drove a lot of the good development Nintendo had, all of the innovative things that Nintendo dreamt up like the DS, Switch, Wii, etc, were largely driven by a need to remain in the market after Sony had captured more market share.
Sony might be terrible now, but competition was always a good thing. And Sony were never the worst at what they did.
Now we're in 2025 yeah, they deserve to die. They're not competing with Nintendo. Xbox also deserves to die for not competing with Sony. The real reason all of these companies fucking suck now is because they're not competing with each other. Nintendo is the only one that's actually trying to compete despite having a frickin monopoly on handhelds, a gigantic niche within the larger console market.

I don't rate the gameplay of Fates so much higher than Three Houses that it's able to negate the rest of it being bad. I also really like what Three Houses offers in its gameplay. Battalions and combat arts are cool and unit progression is more satisfying than any other game in the franchise.
I actually have a lot of negative opinions on Engage's gameplay. I'd never rank it with Conquest. Hell, I don't even think it's call it as good as Birthright. Progression was fucked up by the Awakening level reset on reclass which was a step back from Fates. Map design was middle of the road, reminding me of FE6/FE7 in a bad way but made worse by them spamming the same four bosses at you. Emblem rings were a terrible mechanic too. Super states and big ultimate moves don't belong in an FE game. FE is more interesting when the enemies are stronger than your units. Being able to delete them with breaks and emblem attacks really didn't work for me like it did for some people. Hopefully that gives you an idea about what I value. I don't think Engage is terrible but I hope we never get another game like it.

The fact that those four enemies also used Emblems also helped in specifically planning around how to best mitigate their assault or planning the best way to engage them in battle, and it also helped keep their fights distinct enough since the Emblem they'd use in a given battle wouldn't always be what they'd use in the next one and also resulted in some of the best boss fights in the game.

Use other stores, what makes PC special is you're not limited to one store, for instance, if Valve bans something on Steam, on a Steam Deck, you can just get a game from another launcher and then just shove it into your Steam game library as a non-Steam game and you're set.
