Apparently, SEGA has made an official Sonic battle royale game and I just now found out about it. It also apparently received ten million pre-registrations. Just another mobile slop game for people to add onto their phones/tablets, as if they didn't already have enough of it. I would say at least it's not gacha shit, but battle royale slop isn't much better.

I just installed it on Steam. It came bundled with some malware that tries to tell me what software I am allowed or not allowed to run. I decided to put up with it because I want to try the game, so I followed its request to close "disruptive" programs. I closed everything I could, and the game STILL doesn't run.

The anticheat program is called "Wellbia". It kept claiming I was running "disruptive" software, I tried closing everything and it never ran. I uninstalled the game, and deleted all the Wellbia files I could find. I restarted the computer. I found some posts saying there is something called "xhunter1sys" that I should delete as well. I tried deleting it. Error: can't delete the file because it is being used by Wellbia. The thing I just uninstalled is running on the computer on startup without my permission even though I'm trying to get rid of it. This game comes with a virus.

It is. It's just hidden. I can't delete the xhunter1.sys file, it says it is being used by Wellbia. If you look it up you'll find people who report that this happens whenever that Wellbia garbage is installed. They intentionally make it hard to uninstall (there is a shady official uninstaller that STILL doesn't fully get rid of it) and they keep moving the files to different folders (I found multiple different tutorials and none had the same paths at me, for the files I was able to find).

tl;dr You need to download something called autoruns64.exe from Microsoft's website and then remove that garbage from the actual core of your system. It even hides itself using different name (Wellbia, Xigncode3, Xhunter, possibly more). Also make sure to look up the one named "Sonic Rumble", that guide doesn't mention it since it's for a different game. This is so insidious I'm not even convinced this will be enough to fully remove it, I wouldn't be surprised if there's an even more hidden part of this trash that no one has detected yet.

There are two parts to the anticheat program. One is at the user level. I deleted it easily myself. The one is at the kernel level, and is hidden from the task manager. You need to use autoruns to uninstall the Wellbia and Sonic Rumble drivers.

If you want proof, open your file explorer, go to the C: drive, and search for the file "xhunter1.sys". Try to delete it. It will say it can't be deleted because it is actively being used by Wellbia (the program you think you have uninstalled). I just followed that tutorial I linked and I was finally able to delete that file. I hope it got rid of everything for real this time.

When I read your post I opened the game again, searched for wellbia on the task manager, opened on its respective folder and deleted it after closing the game so it didn't disappear. Then deleted the other file you mentioned.

I didn't play Frontiers so can't say how they evolved the gameplay from there but reducing the speed cap of boosting and increasing it's mobility along with increased verticality in level design made Base Generations' gameplay hard to go back to.
The only sour parts for me were the slightly wonky controls of the Doom slime ability and the Radical Highway interruptions in some stages.
Shadow Generations is a good game bare minimum.

I agree in part, lessening the boost lead to less railroaded level design and more player control but it doesn't feel like your "boosting" much faster than Shadow's normal run speed like Sonic does.
I personally would like to see a formula without boosting in the future (not to imply it can't co-exist) but we'll see what Sonic Team does
