For starters I think the combat fucking sucks. It's complete and utter garbage, the whole "OVERHEATING" system is trash and the aim reticle is horrible. You hit enemies and it doesn't feel you hit them.
The dialogue options are pretty lame, though Mass Effect never got good at dialogue options. Companions are extremely shallow and their dialogues are most of the time strange or nonsensical. Ashley out of nowhere reciting poems, Kaidan telling you about his experience in the academy, etc. It's all so wooden. Tali is not even a character in that game.
I don't like how they tried to pat themselves in the back over being progressive by making Asari a "super girl power alien dykes" race when the only reason they exist is due to the writer's fetishism and not actual tolerance or respect for other sexualities.
The ending is very underwhelming and boring, nothing happens and i always find it funny how people praise games in which you can make the villain "shoot himself", it's cringe.
Also the character creator is complete dog water and forces you to play as Vanderloo, and whatever backstory you pick is completely irrelevant, it never comes into play.
The only thing i'd praise about Mass Effect 1 is how beautiful it looks for a 2007 game and baffles me how Dragon age origin from 2009 looks like complete garbage.
