God that manga was shit. They fully couldn't decide on a tone, or any internal consistency. One moment they're all serious, next moment the principal who is some sort of dog-mouse has a talk with a guy that's a washing machine.
One chapter it's a brutal, gorey yakuza plot, about an abused little girl, and a guy who dismembers people, and then: Oh NO! We gotta prepare... TeH ScHOoL fEstIVaL!". You have a scene where the young wannabe heroes are taught that during disaster relief missions, they have to be careful with rubble, because if they carelessly shift some around with their quirks, they could injure or even kill more people, setting up a more grounded, realistic "what if heroes were real?" manga. couple chapters later? "Okay, we have set up an entire gigantic fake city for you to spar in, where you can use your quirks full power against each other and destroy large parts of it, yet somehow not injure each other at all, oh and we'll set it all back up for the next group right after you don't worry, lmao.
Or the class teacher that gets introduced as the most hardass of all hardass teachers, who will expell you for THE SLIGHTEST misstep. But also in the class: Bakugo, A guy who's so comically aggressive and obviously unfit to a hero, that whenever someone in class says something he doesn't like, he JUMPS ONTO HIS FUCKING DESK AND YELLS THREATS AT THEM. HOW IS HE STILL IN THIS SCHOOL, LET ALONE THIS CLASS???
That hole fucking manga is the worst example of "wanting your cake and eating it too". and that's leaving out dumbass shit like:
>Oh, All might totally used to have this assistant that is super important to him, that our protag, the biggest almight stan never mentioned. Oh whoops he's dead.
>Oh, there's also this trio of super students that are totally extremely famous in school, and everyone knows and loves that we never mentioned, whoops one of them lost their quirk.
There's more but I reached rant limit, lmao
