That actually isn't what I'm suggesting, sorry if that wasn't clear. I used ubislop open world as an example because it's a great way to show off and use various toys, which the Tau rely on. You can do something slower and more linear to make it extra tactical, but that limits what you're able to do within the scope of a game. I also think it'd be best as a spec ops squad game, not completely solo.

That's standard for every GW game unfortunately. If you're playing with cool people then you don't need either because it's all online. If you're playing with sticklers then you need the rule book and a set of rule cards for your kill team, which are like $35. If you don't have a game shop nearby or know someone with terrain then you also need that which is the priciest bit but generally you can use those at stores without issue.

They're okay in Gladius. The Utopia buff encourages lots of little cities to offset the fact that multiples of the same building type can fuck up the loyalty bonus you get for keeping things strictly 1 (UND PRECISELY VON) of each building. I think they're pretty fun, they're a heavily scattered and leaderless legion even by traitor standards. But have a charm of being so gleeful in their wicked ways while also being assholes to their brothers. They are mostly loyal to themselves and plan on betraying literally everyone so long as they get whatever resources, slaves, and ships they can steal before plunging the knife in the back.
They're less a legion of space marines or even cultists, but a bunch of outlaw pirates who will flee the second the tide isn't in their favor. But contrary to popular belief, they can still throw down when they need to.
I read the Nightlords' Omnibus and had a good time with it and it has a really kino moment during a boarding action.
