Except you're retarded and too stupid to consider the difference in context in how Microsoft and EA seek to maximize their profits. Microsoft is a platform holder, even without a successful console brand Gamepass in of itself is also a platform. As a platform holder, they are profit driven not by box sales alone, but by having a diverse portfolio of games casting as far of a net as they can in genres to generate interest to draw in subscribers to the Gamepass service. Since 1st party titles don't leave the service (for now) existing on a service gives them far longer legs in player interest and activity. Just consider the amount of shows on Netflix from 20-30 years ago that they bought the rights for cheap that see their cultural peak today when they make a resurgence on the platform. That's the type of conditions Microsoft is trying to create with Gamepass.
EA is purely sales driven, which means they need to consider opportunity cost when supporting a project. Even if a game is financially successful, if that came at the opportunity cost of time or manpower that could have gone towards a project that could have generated even more revenue like a sports game then that would lead to the shutdown of a particular studio or project. Mirror's Edge is dead because time DICE would spend making a Mirror's Edge game is time that could have been spent making a new Battlefield game that would make 10x more money.
