The delay might have actually been to deliberately made to prevent people from calling time off. Last time I remember the amount of people taking paid leave when GTA5 released was so great that it left a visible dent in the economy for some time. There is a real possibility Rockstar was forced by the US government to delay their game deliberately to prevent a even bigger dent in the economy as now many people will wish change the date to when GTA6 is being delayed to.
The reason why its significant is because employers and HR now can see both the previous desired date and now changed one and if both match the GTA6's previous and current release date then it will confirm that a worker was planning on taking leave when the game releases and let employers deal accordingly with said employee; for instance they could just say no to new date.
Its truly a fucking Jewish tactic but fuck is it clever.

Yes. It's selfish but I've given myself three day weekends just to spend more time knocking out a videogame just because I'm really taken by it. Where it's like hey I'm not going to be able to focus on anything but my progress of where I last was and trying to plan out my next tasks.

But I'm s 36 year old man and have come to the decision recently they this is pretty lousy behavior. To put life on pause for a hobby is fine but I'm taking time for soni can stare at a screen. There's something that bugs me about that.

My leave year runs September to August and I'd kept a few of weeks back ready for Silksong to drop, booked in the final three weeks of August once it became clear it wasn't dropping that year because I had to use it or I'd lose those days, and then the bastards announced the release date for a couple of days after I went back in.

Thankfully I work from home so just played it on company time instead, but I had to step away to join some meetings and waggle my mouse now and again so teams stayed green.

Not from work, but I went home during high school to play Fallout New Vegas the day it came out. I had a couple empty hours during my schedule and got to leave campus for a career center class where I was the only student, so I just bailed and went to Game Stop instead. My mom was home (and I was a good student) so I went back instead of staying home all day after that. I spent the second half of the school day gloating to my friends that I had already played it. Main thing I remember was how the new walking animation looked much better than Fallout 3 and the iron sights mechanic blowing my mind. I'd never played an RPG with stuff like that.

Hey guys, I know I am seeing a lot of back-and-forth on this topic, but I really need to push back and raise some red flags here. Having an on-site office presence foundational to our ability to drive efficiencies in a corporate landscape. It is in our DNA. Sure, there is no 'one size fits all' or silver bullet and some are just boilerplate solutions, leveraged to the hilt and really only keeping us at a 30,000-foot-view of things. Being on-site, however, really allow us to get better granularity, find better directional-indicators, or loop back and dive deep into some critical issues on a go-forward basis.

I think if you all start spending more time in the office again, you'll find yourself trending toward the positive, but you'll have to keep an eye on the puck. Gut through it, reduce thrash, and let's stay in lock-step on this. Yes, we will synergize!

What's the root cause of the hatred of Corporate office spaces? I'll put my layman's hat on and guess that it comes from movies such as Office Space and Dilbert cartoons. But we all know that these are fictional spaces, and real office spaces allow us to touch base in a much more efficient manner.

I have to time-box this comment, as I have a hard-stop in a moment when I will have to jump onto a call. So, just one more point that I want to cover-off on: let's socialize the idea of having more office presence and loop back to see whether we're being more impactful. From a management standpoint, I think that we can get the traction to do it.

So, net/net, ignore the naysayers, sidebar the folks that are stuck in the weeds, and don't waste cycles or bandwidth on folks that don't align strongly with this mission. Try it out, and we'll have another touch point in a little while to see if we've moved the needle. Remember, our north star hasn't changed. We're still championing our core values remotely and we will only do it better in person.

If you need me, I will be online again in a bit.

>not putting in random days throughout the year as soon as the new calendar year starts
Also if you have multiple people in the same team, and if too many people request the same day off you usually go by who got it in first, and if they got it in at the same time, it goes to seniority.

I understand there's more responsibilities to consider, but why would you tell your job a year in advance? A month, maybe two, is understandable. If I were a boss and someone told me they were taking time off a whole year later I'd just tell them to remind me when it's closer.

Also the tweet is framed like he's contractually bound take the week off on the wrong date. When it's 6 months away. He's just harvesting likes.

I mean it completely depends on the job. You're right in most circumstances that it's excessive to put it on the work calendar a year out, but plenty of people with families plan a summer vacation that far out.

The only place I worked where anything longer than a couple weeks notice was expected had pretty intense "on-call" expectations for our role (software), so people often planned well in advance so their manager could make sure someone else was around by then.

For other jobs, it could be planning around conferences or seasonal stuff. Totally depends.

you're not even sure if the game will be good, let alone playable due to bugs. the best way to play games is actually to wait 1-2 years post release. patches are out, bugs are fixed, it's likely 50% off, and there could even be a complete edition that includes all DLC

in 2023 i had been managing this smartphone shop for a couple years. nice cushy retail gig, chill staff and i was the best smartphone technician around. after 3 years with no time off and often working 6-8 days in a row before having a day off i was pretty burnt out. I took a couple days off work with a mild cold/flu and had my first "holiday in years" I would wake and bake every day, have some store made soup (normally chicken and corn, with with toasted cheese and bacon rolls. fucking unreal) and chill in bed playing skyrim or overwatch all day while hitting the penjamin. After 3-4 days of this i was basically full recovered from my cold, but i would wake up every morning and call in sick again, telling myself i wasnt quite 100%. but really the temptation to be cozy, stoned and chillin in bed. although my higher ups seemed ok with my abscence, as i had plenty of unused sick leave, they reprimanded me for calling in way too late, as i would wait until the last minute to make the call, even 45 minutes before i was due to open the shop- meaning i was making last minute changes to staff. after about my 8th day of doing this i was fired.

years later im working at a better paying job with way more freedom and ive quit weed, but i still frequently yearn for another cozy, stoned soup and skyrim day.

Well I remember playing Skyrim, when it came out, for 2 days straight. I forgot the time and just called into work lol.

I had a friend put in a week worth of vacation days to play Diablo 3.

I stayed home from school and locked myself in the basement for a while when Diablo 3 came out. I can't find a job in this shithole anymore so now I kind of just take off to play vidya all the time. It really sucks actually

I took a week of vacation for fallout 4. That was the last time I ever felt hype for a game release. The disappointment broke something in me.

2022 for Elden Ring is the only time I’ve done that, and realised it’s not worth it unless you have multiple days off in a row and have no other commitments. Depending how it shapes up to be I might take time off for FF7R Part 3 but it will probably be mediocre at best.

I don't even order games I want to play for at least 2+ months after release, mostly because there's been too many instances where there have been crippling problems at launch. At that point I just wait for the weekend
