iirc the twd devs did want more hub areas in previous games, i remember for s2 specifically they were all shot down because the initial gameplay they had for it was unfinished and they had to try and reassure management/ investors that it would look better by release
unfortunately they were still shot down, but you can see some attempts at it in a few episodes where you shuffle around a room talking to the characters once or twice before the story progresses, although instead of having to do something to continue usually it's just talking to someone specific

Every raider that came to the school and died is on Clem. Abel and the rest of the raiders on the boat, they actually give you some options to knock out or outright kill some when sneaking in there, and the people on the final flashback. I think Clem has 24 on-screen human kills across all seasons, how many she has killed in-between seasons is up in the air. Decent numbers all things considered, Ellie still has more by virtue of being a tps character.
