The cut fishing scene from S2 was 80% done and it would involve up to 4 different choices with unique animations, it would be a choice between Luke, Nick, Pete and Alvin, that's why there's promotional material of Luke and Clem in a shed, you could end up there with him instead of Nick.

i think carver was supposed to be much more tyrannical when s2e1 and s2e1 were being written
we know from troy's va that troy was much worse in the script than he was in the final game, i'm willing to bet carver was as well
alvin being a big nothingburger is due to the scene that was supposed to actually give him a character was cut out, at the end of s2e1 nick, pete, alvin, luke, and clemetine were supposed to go to the fish traps and catch fish
clementine would be with alvin and he would talk to her while catching fish, and tease her if she was bad at it
