I started my latest prototype this weekend.
Its a Loop Hero inspired boardgame.
Not going to go into much more detail to avoid potential copycatting, but I think I've hit a good balance of scope and simplicity that makes this a viable project for me as one man dev team.

not sure about the texture matching between the inner side of the wings and her torso - would potentially add some difference in colour (maybe darken the chest texture a lil bit)

If its just a free-to-play passion project then you might be left alone, but no guarantees if they think its taking sales from their boardgame.
You will need to develop a unique visual identity and iterate on Delve's mechanics if you want to sell it.
My game has maybe 20% overlap with Loop Hero's mechanics.

thanks anon. I'm currently focusing on her AI but once I get that sorted out I'll review the coloring. Shit's been driving me crazy but I think I've found a nice balance between functionality and simplicity, and no I'm not going to implement 3D A* pathfinding, I'm not that smart lol

Early in development, spent most of the day designing the structure of the program to change between screens. Lots of hardcoded stuff I had to fix up. Hope I can move to asset production next week or so.

Been a few weeks since I really worked on my game since my pops was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, no targetable mutations, negative pd-l1 score so immunotherapy will not do much either, so prognosis is looking grim. Just been spending all my time learning about cancer and any other possible supplements I can give him, which I now have had him on that regiment for the last week. pre-chemo scan in a few weeks, hoping that the primary tumor see's some shrinkage from what I've been giving him so he can avoid chemo.

Anyway got back to it the last 2 days and changed up how I handle warping from one sector to another. Did this since because I can easily re-use this method for warping to any area, where the before method was going to require making changes to the camera angles constantly for each warp path you took.

boring progress, but progress still: flying enemies are able to aimlessly wander. Doesn't make a lot of sense for harpies but it might work for bats, giant wasps and that kind of stuff. I'll create another state where the flying enemy wanders in a "smoother" way

I also fucked around with shaders to make this daytime cycle. Figured I could spice up the forest area with this so it doesn't look so samey.
My idea is to have it be daytime during the goblin chapter, then sunset shortly after the alraune chapter starts, and of course transition into nighttime right on cue for the wolf girl.

learned a lot about the Pose Library in Blender today, seems extremely useful, never knew it was a thing before.
So, a quick question for any other 3D anons, if you're going to have multiple characters interacting, whats the current standard for animating and syncing said animations?
Should I be appending/linking copies of the other characters/prop objects to my file and keep everything contained in the one characters animation, lining stuff up in engine programmatically and just play it?
Or is there some way to easily sync separate characters with separate interaction animations easily?

Thanks, I am working hard and acceleration the development process because I wanna start sharing my demo, get feedback, and keep polishing until next fest february of 2026.

At this point, basically all system are already done, I just need to make more maps and enemies.
