Okami and Ninja Gaiden both had cult followings with smaller but dedicated fanbases that was maintained for like a decade between game entries.
The only people that care about God Hand are like maybe half a dozen people on /v/.

This was a cool game and I was enjoying it until my PS3 had a hard drive crash. It was one of the games I got from the PS store before it went down forever for PS3. Fuck exclusive titles and video game systems. If I had that for PC I could have just accessed it from a new system.

God Hand sold extremely bad on release, it is a cult classic only for a small group of people, Capcom isn't seeing potential in appeasing to new "fans" who watched youtube videos and were convinced God Hand is truly amazing.

The lead designer is a retired farmer, the director works for Tencent, and the number of people in the world that actually know exactly how the game works can be counted on one hand.

Mikami and Suda mused about buying the rights to God Hand and in response Capcom shoved out a crappy emote and midi in SF6 so they could ask an impossible price and pretend they still used the IP

The video is not clickbait and points out everything that modern Capcom tries to run away from: God Hand is the antithesis of everything Capcom has been striving for and tried to run away from in the past decade, a vulgar and offensive stain on the entire studio. If you're still living in denial and do not understand what the video is trying to say, then go look at the 2020 ransomware leaks. A game like God Hand cannot and will not be made ever again due to modern's sensitivities.

because it was a late PS2 release in a niche genre with a deliberately offputting difficulty that received zero budget because capcom was in the middle of closing the devs down because viewtiful joe didn't become the next megaman

it averages a 7/8 out of 10 from reviews back when it came out, the 3/10 IGN review is so infamous because it was literally the only review anywhere near that negative and despite this score massively tanking the average it sits at a 73 on IGN, which is frankly incredible for a game that was given every reason to fail by its own publisher, there's a reason why they almost put the guy into marvel vs capcom 3 and 100% would've if capcom didn't pull that games development because a fucking tsunami hit the entire country right in the middle of its post release dev period

Okami is often praised whenever discussion over Cube/PS2/Xbox era is happening. It also got a bunch of modern ports in all the following gens to keep it somewhat in public conscious.
God Hand has nothing like that.

What a chad. I feel like he's not "genuinely" guilty for "wasting" company money on making something he loves. Of course it wasn't going to sell well back in those days, which is criminal. He says he knew it wasn't gonna sell but I think that it still hurts when you make something that's a crystallization of your taste that ends up being a flop. A game of that quality today would absolutely be a hit.
