It's actually a lot LESS random at level die. It's far more predictable to the point that speedruns of NG KMS on normal can legitimately be more difficult because enemy behaviors will vary more.

you're not supposed to, you're supposed to throw out guard breaks at the predictable guard triggers and duck cancel to make yourself safe.
What's giving you trouble? I can reliably do NG Hard KMS in about 4 hours (personal best a little under 3:30).
