it's one of the best Metroidvania/Metroidlikes along with Silksong, Grime and Ender Lilies. Fusion and Zero Mission are still great. Super is a bit jankyand old now but lots of people still love it. Try the prime games as well.

We did.
Metroid has 5 games in its (main) series and they are all great games, because they follow a proven formula and stick to the series' roots. It's one of the only series left that hasn't deteriorated over time and either become something completely different or been butchered by people who don't even like videogames. Play them all.

It's the second best 2D Metroid behind Super, it's really cool. Almost all of the 2D Metroid games are good except the original and the 3DS remake of Metroid 2. You should play the rest.

I didn't grow up with Metroid and picked up Dread on a whim. I haven't been this impressed with a game in awhile.
I just finished Prime Remastered. Enjoyed that too. Now I'm finishing up the rest of Dread. I briefly tried out AM2R, Zero Mission, and Fusion, and I can tell I'm really going to enjoy them.

Pretty much everyone except for David Jaffe said it was great. Only things that stop it from being the best Metroid is the music and the silly shit they did when you find early power bombs. Hopefully Prime 4 keeps the streak going, though the motorcycle stuff is a bit worrying.

It's a 6/10 game.

Kirby lore and metroid lore are the same and it's funny as shit.

the EMMI cat and mouse sections gave me a weirdly huge amount of anxiety and killed any desire I had to play the game. I have never played any other game that gave me this issue and beat and enjoyed every other metroid besides other M, including the first game.

As far as I’m concerned a Metroid game just feels hollow without one Ridley fight. When I first played dread I commended it for committing to Ridley being actually dead at this point in the canon but I just want a fight now and I don’t like dread not having one. Does anyone really care about the Metroid Canon and timeline to turn down a Ridley encounter when they’re usually a consistent highlight of whatever game they’re in?
