Feels like you'd regret it massively if you spend top dime on a "new" 50 Super card and then 6 months later or something NVIDIA releases the actually new cards and utterly shatters your shitty card's asshole (50 series is incredibly bad anyway, the difference will probably be large).

The entire 50 series (except the 5090, kind of) is entirely worthless. It's basically a 40 series rebadge without any real perf increase, they just shuffled the model numbers around. 5090 is legit faster but only by a little bit and they achieved that by increasing its cable melting potential even higher, it's not a better architecture or more efficient or anything, it's just more shit for more power. Really awful stuff this entire generation.

Define "need"
You could play a lot of games at 720p output with some Performance scaler that actually runs the game at 360p and then be happy with 15FPS and then you don't "need" much at all, but I imagine to most people that would just be considered "unplayable" instead so they would "need" something faster.
Personally I would like native 4k rendering and 100+ FPS in everything, but a graphics card capable of doing that does not exist, 5090 is MUCH too slow.

NTA but every LLM product is still losing money, openAI lost 12b last quarter.
if none of the companies are profitable, then prices are all speculative,
Nvidia themselves are investing in all their customer's customers to drive up their own share price, when those companies go broke each one of those investments is a loss.
if the sharemarket ever sees this, everyone will pull out and nvidia stock price will free fall.
we've seen this happen before in the telecom market in the late 90's, Cisco never recovered to their ATH

best or worse depends what you want to happen, but some options are:
>bad
some AI companies start going broke, people begin to notice. big dogs insist everything is fine.
institutional investors quietly begin rotating out of AI heavy positions. others catch on, panic, everyone tries to exit the big dogs at once.
share prices in major tech go into freefall.
nvidia’s reported investment defaults aren’t catastrophic by themselves, but confidence in the AI business collapses.
retail traders and meme speculators dump their holdings, assuming the hype cycle has peaked.
the mass unwind spills into ETFs and passive index funds. because so many of the top 200 companies are tied to AI, the broader market slides.
casual investors watch retirement accounts evaporate as fund managers de-risk. bond yields spike, venture funding freezes, mass layoffs.
AI hardware demand plummets, bankruptcies ripple across the semiconductor supply chain, and governments scramble to stabilize markets amid a sudden tech recession.

All these rumors and speculation make a retard like me question the actual reality of the situation. The rumors all before this were akin to "wait for the Supers, Q1 2026!" and now there's speculation/leaks/rumors based on a shortage of memory chips, which I truly know nothing about.
I guess what I want to say/ask is when these rumors are being discussed I'm willing to believe that the delay is the most likely based on the shortage of chips, but what are the chances Nvidia actually has enough of these chips and the current shortage doesn't apply to their needs and this ends up being a fake leak/rumor that increases purchasing of the cards during the holiday season and they're still on schedule for a Q1 release (I personally don't have strong opinions, I'm willing to wait for a potential Super because I'm on 4k and a 24 VRAM 5080 sounds nice.)
I mean, at the end of the day all of these are rumors with a variety of credibility and background to them, but I honestly don't know the true reality of the situation.
Based on these leaks are any of you going to buy a card now instead of waiting? Is it worth paying MSRP for a 5080 now instead of waiting? I really don't know.

You can see this with the R9nano vs modern GPUs. That card is like 15 years old with a 2000 bit bus and there is no ghosting, no pops, no stutters. Shit runs as fast as its old core can process as the bus is a HMB gen 1. Now no one will sell you HMB gpus because they can just jew you with garbage and save production costs using shitty GDDR.

Nobody is okay with it but sheer complexity of the whole thing means you need to spend decade(s) setuping plants and training people spending literal billions in process to maybe start doing 8nm by 2035. Intel plants are the best that we have now, china still fumbles with their own production and it will still take some time till they start competing, eu doesn't even bother and content to just buy shit from however does (less so lately but train already left them behind), russia focuses on specialized military applications and rides china coattail for consumer electronics.

I don't, but I'm also not some pretentious faggot who thinks that retro games are the only games that people will ever need. gpu's also die so there's that. used to be a time where 1000-1500 usd will get you pretty much the top of the line pc possible. now 1000-1500 is pretty much entry level if you don't want a shitbox.

Console gamers aren't buying RAM dipshits on the scale that PC gamers are. You're getting price gouged inch by inch on your PC. RAM and GPU prices are still going up on PC. Eat a dick vegans.

Are you retarded? For PC you need cheaper RAM(DDR5/4) that doubled in price, for console//GPU you need the more expensive ones(DDR6/7) that quadrupled in price and are currently unavailable, but your console need more of them than GPU because unlike console PC also have the cheaper RAM work with as well.

I keep saying this every time but why is it that George Floyd caused everyone to lose their shit and riot everywhere, but no one is doing anything about the ridiculousness of the price of literally everything going up to an unsustainable level? And if there are protests happening, why am I not seeing anything? You simply could not avoid news of Floyd shit.
