Would most Bomberman games sell better if they had the Super Bomberman R artstyle? Puyo Puyo probably would've sold worse if they kept the generic old-school anime artstyle.

Konami would have to release Bomberman games for them to sell in the first place

The PS2 era was the real golden age of Bomberman. Even if the games weren't perfect, you could still feel the passion they put into them. When that era ended, the franchise died with it. Everything that's come after is just milking a corpse.

The 6th gen (Gamecube/PS2) was not Bomberman's golden age at all. If anything it was the start of the series and Hudson's decline as they become more and more a shoevelware company. If you want Bomberman's actual golden age it would be the 5th gen (N64/PS1/Saturn), since it felt they were experimenting with pushing the series forward.

i would've liked them to keep it but i do like the sega style, too bad nowadays it's turned into the most sterile version of itself due to artist changes.

I can't imagine considering TSA the start of their decline since it was probably the most ambitious Bomberman game back then and probably now.
Generation would be a better candidate because while it's an alright game, it decided to play things very safe from its level design to its overall presentation. That was major problem with Bomberman games going forward, they all started to feel too safe.

the truth of the matter is that as technology and console generation progress, game genres like Bomberman, Megaman, Metroidvanias, Contras and many more are now treated as cheap, bargain bin, budget games. and no matter what these game genres do, they will no longer find the success they have before.

I say that they should instead embrace it instead of reinventing the wheel to try to transform themselves to a premium ip game again.

at least Bomberman did it and made Bombergirl and is more successful than any Bomberman game yet

It wouldn't have lasted 7 days if it didn't have the degenerate goonerbait. MOST gachas do not have fun gameplay. They have ADDICTING gameplay, which isn't the same thing when you're talking about grinding for resources and shit to power up characters that will just be obsolete when the new meta pick comes out. And that's the problem with Bombergirl: it's not Bomberman gameplay where everyone starts on equal footing. There are abilities and gimmicks that are objectively better than others.

Games that require endless amounts of hours to grind for a decent playable characters unless they waste all of their money on the game are NOT supposed to be fun, retard.

And that's the problem with Bombergirl:
The cuteness is a huge factor, sure, but it's not the sole reason that the game is still running.
Plenty of gachas died in the past because the gameplay sucked so much that even the designs couldn't save them. Bombergirl, in comparison, is quite unique with the role system for every character. Every match feels different, although still being bomberman at it's core.

Most of the characters are pretty balanced, there's no real meta in what you wanna pick, this isn't lol or dota.
The 4 starters that you get for example are very decent until you can unlock the rest of the roster.

I mean, if you suck with the starter characters, then you just suck at the game period. Consider watching how the Grandmaster level players play and see how to improve from them.

>most Bomberman games
Anon look at pic-related do you realize how many fucking Bomberman games there are? How milked to shit it is? It has a pretty basic premise and they don't evolve the gameplay much. There is not a major overarching franchise length story to keep players invested.

You want to make fun of Call of Duty or Madden for milking the franchise with yearly releases? Bomberman was objectively worse.

>ps2 era bomberman
>golden age
LMAO no, that was the definitive decline
the golden age was on the SNES/Saturn/PCEngine, with the Super series, Bomberman 94, and Saturn Bomberman, games that still kept the formula that made Bomberman the unique game it was, the grid based gameplay and chaos.

>>725321387
While i can agree that the grid N64 games were fun and good games, that is also when the series started to abandon its identity with bomberman hero: the moment they made a 3d platformer with no grid system and typical 3d platformer camera is the moment they turned an unique series with unique gameplay(literally any other game similar to it was a bomberman clone) into a generic spyro/crash/mario/banjo/glover/etc clone where the unique features of bomberman became just the typical gimmic each individual platformer series has, like breathng fire and gliding/flying is for spyro.

It's not a coincidence that the most beloved "modern" game is PowerBomberman, a FANgame that successfully combine all of the features and fun of the grid era.
