It's amazing how I don't follow streamers but I know right away that this isn't true. Nintendo games aren't very popular on streams for some reason. Popular streams are either competitive games like Counter Strike, LOL, etc., or more creative games that generate spontaneous situations that people like to watch, such as GTA V Online, Minecraft, etc. And finally, whatever popular streamers are playing (rarely Nintendo).
Also, I just looked at the top 50 on Twitch right now, and there are no Nintendo games there.

Nintendo games are kind of like Disney movies when they still had some quality. They are the safe choice that parents make for their children, or what hobbyists will consume knowing that there will be good quality, but they are not the things that hobbyists really devote themselves to (and no, autistic people who have been speedrunning Mario for years are not the hobbyists I am referring to, but rather normal people who own video games as serious entertainment).

Compare the recent output compared to the earlier Switch output. Xenoblade 2 was better than 3, BotW was better than TotK and especially better than EoW. Odyssey is better than Princess Peach Showtime.

If you want to further back than that, Mario Maker 1 was better than 2 and you can make the case that Galaxy 1 and 2 are better than Odyssey. I'd safely say that Odyssey was better than Banaza and Arms was obviously better than Drag x Drive. I personally wasn't too big on Mario Wonder either but 2D Mario has been in a weird spot since they decided to keep chasing after NSMBW. Even Splatoon 3 being better than 2 is debatable.

It was made specifically with that idea in mind, not something that could just be tacked onto any game and likely only possible because it's a 2d platformer with everything set to a grid arrangement.
