There are times when I post something bad amongst artists and all they want to do is argue about the drawing topic itself and no one tells me it looks like dogshit.
The real solution: Reflect. Flip the canvas, look at it, save a pic of it and look at occasionally at work. It's not a perfect solution (a better artist can see your faults instantly) but it's better than nothing

Sometime you have to outright state you want criticism (that’s the keyword). Feedback usually gets people telling you the positives they see in your art. Also, most artists don’t want to be the “bad guy” and inadvertently causing someone to stop doing art for being truthful. Be commutative (both parties). If you want brutal honesty (not cruel), ask for that.

I don't do plot points but I mostly just tried sketch pages and playing situations out like picrel without using panels to try and get the hang of any sort of progression first. I've since moved on to paneling but it helped me out quite a bit. Just smash your characters together and see how they act.

I am being very real when I say this. The coloring elevates your line work by a mile, not saying your lines are bad, but wow. Since the lighting is coming from above there should be some more shadows on her shorts and legs. You got the tummy shadow cover. The hair looks great. Really nice job, man.

Not that anon, but I've been using Procreate for almost 5 years now and it's a damn good piece of software to draw on. It's fairly "immersive" in its approach with how little it gets in the way of drawing. And as far as iPads, they're very capable little machines and I can very well recommend them too, if they're in your price range and you need something more mobile.

I don't think I ever sat down to actually study them but Yoichi Nishikawa, who has done a lot of marvelous work for Ghibli and other anime and Mateusz Urbanowicz, who is a Polish artist living in Japan are two of my biggest inspirations for background work. Nishikawa put a book out recently that is really nice and Mateusz has a few on Japanese architecture that are very good too. Range Murata also does a whole lot of really good work and Alke is also one of my favorites when it comes to rendering.

The two real issues I'd say are the left and right arms. In specific, the left arm is too short and the way the boob connects to the right shoulder is wrong I think. I am no expert on boobs though. Besides that, I think narrowing the shoulders a bit makes it look better. Everything else is fine.
As for the rendering, I can't help at all. It looks realy amazing though in my opinion. Especially the skin.

You have to be aware of how some elements, shape, color, line, value, texture, etc contrast with each other. It's a design/composition thing. That's... sorta a high-level skillset on the totem pole. But it's also something that you definitely have intuition for already. You've been exposed to striking imagery, real and manmade, all your life And the skills are all about accessing that intuition, decoding why it's been shaped the way it has.

Have you read Bone or Calvin and Hobbes? Those are both good ones if you haven't.

You have to rip the bandaid off eventually and once get a grasp on it, it’s not so hard to build a model (UV wrapping is another story but that can come later). Just don’t get frustrated and always save your projects because Blender crashes a lot on my machine.
