Thw tutorial kinda skipped over the fact that charging nerds and slide tackling is potentially a foul. There are a couple supers that also sometimes draw fouls.

because it's a poorly implemented mechanic. you can only evade when someone is going to slide tackle. so in theory you see the red flash and dodge with quick reaction - but in reality you can spam the button the whole time you have the ball on the off chance someone tries to tackle.

also you are immune to regular focus challenges after a focus battle so it's not really possible to get swarmed with focus battles like you describe. more like you win one then they immediately put you into Zone mode.
i'm a newb so i don't always know the best decisions, but i find a lot of the time, if they force you into Zone and you don't have a good chance you want to dump Tension into a shot chain, but you can at least get a basic shot out without a wall, it's worth it for chip damage and building up fatigue against the GK anyway. you can dump tension into some big attack next time you get a good chance and now the GK is weaker / probably wasted a Save cooldown.

You need to acquire moves, the various shops sell them. Then open up your character's abilearn board, the move slots are there.
Most slots only accept one type of move, but the 3rd and 6th slots can take any, including Hyper moves like summoning your stand. Be warned that the first three pre-filled slots of non-custom characters require another resource to unlock, which you can only reliably get from story mode.

In the highest difficulty every chronicle match can drop every hero and you have to farm for legendary dupes of specific characters for hyper moves, thousands of beans for your team and shop material to get gear and hissatsu
