The only thing world has over rise and wilds is that the multiplayer with randoms is straight forward. Rise SOS system is bad and four player rooms may be better for co op but they aren't as good for random. Wilds feels like it overcomplicated a lot of things regarding multiplayer and the 100 people rooms are a bit too much. Wilds also lacks the hunters room as whole and the custom camps arent the same. Otherwise everything that's wrong with wilds comes from the fact that the game tries to pander to worldfags.

gen3 refined movesets again and made monsters movesets more fluid and appear less robotic, it's a understated yet huge improvement
gen4 actually didn't improve much and added convoluted layers to progression and mechanics generally regarded as shit like ledges and mounting, but did add more breakable parts to some monsters
and that's just mainline frontier is another beast entirely

You should also really try to aim for weak spots. A lot of the time you could be repositioning to go for head hits but instead hit stuff like the legs or tail that does negative damage
You're struggling a lot with proper tackle usage but that's fine because you barely know the monsters yet, if at all. Every monster has very clear tells or predictive behavior that will take you tens of hours of hunting that particular monster before you can read them perfectly, and greatsword happens to be a weapon that's a bit dependent on knowing the moveset well, due to its long commitment attacks

I think that my damage is pretty low since he changed areas about seven or eight times. it was pretty annoying to run back and forth over and over again. sometimes you can tame a lizard to ride from place to place, but this map doesn't let you do that. i think it's pretty thematic to fight in different areas but in this case it got really stale.

The writing is god-awful, and even the semi-interesting premise cannot carry the terrible dialogue and even worse characters. This completely ruins the early game pacing as you are forced to follow the story to progress the game. Not once has the player been so limited to do what they want in a Monster Hunter game before Wilds. It truly is baffling how anyone thought this was a good idea. Even the gameplay took a hit. While the gameplay is good, this is by far the easiest Monster Hunter game currently, a title the Console Team loves to earn every single time they release a game. Wilds is the first and only Monster Hunter game where I never once felt that I needed to upgrade my equipment. I ran Rank 2 Equipment all the way to Rank 5 quests and never noticed a difference. It was only at Rank 6 hunts that I noticed I was actually taking damage from a monster's hit. For some reason, monsters deal little to no damage in Low Rank. This is when new players are supposed to learn, and yet the only thing they learn is to just hit the monster enough times until red glow to deal big damage and repeat. No difficulty for these early stages in the game means new players won't pick up useful skills early on, like paying attention to a monster's moveset and understanding one's weapon moveset.

I think that it would have gone faster if I used the defender gear. I put it away since you guys called it cheating, but honestly the fight was miserable. It feels like there's no winning, I'm doing everything, using consumables, upgrading armor, upgrading my weapon... as far as consumables, I've been growing them on the tree and it should be quasi-sustainable but I really wish I had two more slots in the tree if the rest of the monsters are going to need meds. otherwise i'll need to start going out just to pick mushrooms. The main problem is that I don't really have any way to gear up. The better gear is locked behind harder monsters which need better gear... kinda discouraging to think about. I guess I'm in a bit of a negative mood after that fight. I wouldn't say I enjoyed it.

Reading this reminded me of my first MH game 3U, where i felt the exact same way cause G rank Rathian, someone who was never really a problem before, started kicking my ass cause i kept bouncing off of her.
Fight took over 30 min, didn't have enough mats to make a proper G rank weapon, and after that hunt i was completely discouraged. It took until plessy/green plessy and a Rougish Deathcap Greatsword to finally get out of that rut.

Bone tree is notorious for being low sharpness.
Try Girros tree. It's less raw attack, but the tradeoff is paralysis buildup, better affinity and better sharpness.

Dunno how he is in wilds but depending on the game (hyper gypceros) can be deceptively hard.

I was going to mention this in my original post but I can see you bouncing off the tail multiple times. Try clutch clawing onto the mon and attacking it. You can tenderize a part to make it softer to hit.
Sharpness is the colored sword icon on the top left, by the way. It's important to use your whetstone to restore sharpness whenever you have a free moment. This will improve damage as well as prevent bouncing.
Use wide slash instead of an overhead swing if you find your sword bouncing off the wings, or start focusing the head primarily.
Last just comes down to monster knowledge.
GS is all about exploiting openings, getting strong hits in wherever it can.
A few times I saw you just walking into the active frames of the tail attack. Other times you're caught out of position when its about to hip check.
You're also sometimes guarding when you should be rolling.
Sheathing is good to do if you start to see Diablos dig. GS sheath is apparently much faster than gunlance.
Again, I've played GS for a total of 7 hunts as of this post so might wanna get a side of salt.

The 14 weapons have had, in some cases, literal decades of slow iteration and refinement and i think there's still way more they could do with them. Adding yet another weapon for them to fuck up or have to split their already thinly divided resources to develop and maintain is just not worth it when they still have so much they could be doing with what they got and when they're currently not able to really maintain a good status quo for their current roster. Maybe if we ever reached a point where they "perfected" some weapons they could add some new ones, or at the very least if we ever hit a point where i stop worrying that they're going to colossally fuck up one of the weapons somehow in the next release.

I loved MH World and liked MH Rise, but this game was...something else. It's simply unfinished. The UI is very clunky and connecting to friends for hunts is absolutely annoying.
