There's something about lab that specifically causes this to happen for some people, I got screwed by it too. For my last two labs I just rushed past the treasure chests and tagged the ascension altar before the connection started shitting itself. Unless I've gone completely crazy and just imagined all this shit, the bosses seem to gain more than just 50% more life: they also become fast as fuck and use their moves more often. Izaro was absolutely zooming in 4th lab, and Exarch ball phase became literally impossible by covering almost every inch of the entire arena in fireballs. I retried the fight with the merc reserved and the difference was extremely noticeable.

FYI if you're Cadiromaxxing with Janus in research T2 uniques cost ~150k gold and T1 uniques cost ~450k gold. I haven't gotten a T0 but it's safe to say that it's probably 2 millionish.

Basically betrayal is the WORST possible thing you can play at league start when you're gold poor. One of your biggest jackpots is completely unobtainable until you've farmed forever.

I don't remember well. Up to 24h? I think it was more severe as nobody could play but was shorter than current. I don't recall rollbacks but with random disconnection you probably were losing some progress.
After slow queue you either had a chance to disconnect randomly every zone change or just while playing and then you would be back in slow queue.
Maps were not an issue. Very low chance of actually getting there and these were time of campaigns still longer than 4h.

its not that complicated, seriously, if you have a solid grasp of fundamental itemization mechanics of poe, you can very quickly learn new crafting methodologies, as most of them follow the general ruleset BUT they deviate from it in one specific way, this rogcrafting guide has 78 pages, because it's padded with explaining why youd even want to do rog, how to get currency for him, how expedition as a whole works, etc - from the top of my head id say the actual rogcraft mechanics take a couple of pages at most, rest of this "reference manual" is information on what kind of mods are valuable for certain item types (ie. bows wanting additional arrows mods) and how to best approach such an item type, if you want to rogcraft, you just put in the regex, spot a promising item, refer to the cheat sheet for more info

depends on what kind of an item you want to craft (without sperging too much, biggest difference is between crafting gear and (cluster) jewels), what is your minimal acceptable value of the end craft (are you satisfied with two high tier mods? three? maybe you need six relevant mods, but tiers don't have to be t1? are you aiming for a mirror craft (6 top mods, all tier 1, divined to max roll or close enough)) and what is your start point (white base? key mod fractured on a base? prefixes or suffixes in an acceptable state, but the other side needs to be improved?)

essences are used to reroll an item, but they guarantee one mod on it (tier of the mod depends on the tier of an essence), so that would be a pretty basic way to get "good enough" post-campaign gear, just roll a few times with an essence, slap a bench craft on it
another quite simple way to force certain mods onto your items would be to use the harvest bench, where you can reroll an item, but guarantee a mod of a certain type to appear - some items allow only one or two mods from a certain group, so such a reforge guarantees a hit - for example, when you progress through maps and you actually need to get some chaos resistance, a good way to do so would be to "reforge chaos" on an amethyst ring to guarantee a chaos resistance modifier (ring mod pool only has one modifier tagged with "chaos", chaos resistance, so reforging chaos guarantees the outcome - there are no essences which can achieve this deterministically on a ring btw)
id suggest you take a look at craftofexile, choose an item type you are interested in, a ring, amulet, maybe a weapon and see what's actually in the mod pool for these items and what tags do these modifiers have, DO NOT scroll down and look at shaper/elder/conqueror influences, it will just muddy the waters for you
if you spend a league fucking around with essences and harvest, youll mostly get the fundamentals and then you can expand to other crafting mechanics imo
rog is also fine, as he can output sometimes really good items, but most of the time what you want from rog are half-products on which you work later on using different methods

np, its A LOT to take in and frankly is impossible to take in at once, a lot of crafting stuff is very-very endgame specific too and it's impossible to tell what's what on your own
craftofexile also has a crafting emulator, where you can pick an item base, set it's item level, and just use the in-game orbs (+ harvest bench) on an item and see what happens, probably a good idea to do so, so you don't accidentally burn your currency on something which is either impossible to do or highly unlikely
there's also a full blown simulator, where you can input multi-step crafting procedures with multiple decision branches, but that's highly concentrated autism territory
