If none of these things happen, Final Fantasy really will be dead aside from maybe XIV (assuming that also stops the bleeding Dawntrail has caused), and SE isn’t just continue to use that money to subsidize further flops forever.

Ffxvi is still a graphical tech feat for the ps5 it probably took much of the development time. The issue is gameplay could be more fleshed out, story more fleshed out and narration and quests more fleshed out than most generic mmo shit. Even a lot of the music sound generic. It's a shame because a lot of the game themes are very modern and bold such as right to death.
You could tell not a lot of thinking went into its making and the dev hoped to slap some generic formula that were tested elsewhere and hope it works. But it doesn't, even the game of throne inspiration turned out to be more insulting to the original work more than anything.
Shallow, superficial is how I would describe XVI, and I'm sure not how much is the devs just just being bad or splitting their dev time with xiv. Ending was good though.

I basically played nothing except XIV during covid. When you first start the game, there's really a shit ton of stuff to do because it's an old MMO. I did eventually burn myself out grinding all the Honors in Bozja. I don't even know why I did it. CLL and Dalriada are fun imo, but why did I grind the Honors? No idea. The Honors and the Field Notes burnt me the fuck out and I've had very little MMO grinding energy since then.
