Let's just assume this is the Gaster that fell into his creation, and it's the knight. And has features of Dess as well as several of the Amalgamates because they're lost in the dark as well.

This answers the question as to who the "fallen star" is in the book lore that caused a river of blood with their tears. Dess doesn't make sense because her disappearance couldn't have originated all the dark fountains if she was lost in one.

It's pretty possible that the "game dev Gaster" and "in-game Gaster" are 2 different people existing at the same time, and we were put in the game to bring him back together.

I think one of the most blatant problems is that Susie is this tough, confident, happy-go-lucky absolute bro of a character that has just INCREDIBLE chemistry with just about every character who gives her a chance, from Ralsei to Gerson to Lancer to whoever, and specially with Kris who is literally one of the best written and best developed character relationships I've seen in a videogame (and I'm very much looking forward to the moment it crashes out because of Kris's lies and deceit and how they'll come out of it, for good or bad). I think that line of dialogue actually did some good for Noelle's character because it revealed that she was more than just a masochist who wants Susie to punch her in the stomach. Noelle's clearly got some lingering resentment from Kris essentially abandoning her as they grew up and not hanging out with her anymore, likely because whatever happened with Dess just made their friendship fall apart. It's pretty clear that a lot of the attraction that Noelle has for Susie is because she sees similarities between Susie and Kris, which is probably why she fantasizes so much about having a ferris wheel ride with her, because it reminds her of when she did the exact same thing with Kris.
