Doing We Are One makes it seem as if it's full uncanny valley surface imitation, with everybody playing 'their role' knowingly on purpose, but it also raises the legitimate question as to what makes somebody themselves, especially with How Darumi Felt beside it
Is it memories? If so, *shouldn't* something that has all of someone's memories and personality and even identity be 'them'? When Darumi says the revived are effectively the originals, and making them new bodies was simply faster than using the corpses, is she bullshitting or genuine? Would you have actually felt better about it or felt like it was more genuine if it she did use their original bodies? They even leave it up in the air whether it was actually Darumi, trusting Takumi's decision to see her as a monster and kill her, or Retsnom, doing exactly what they read about and wanting to die once it realized the truth of what it was, who really died at the end of How Darumi Felt.
It could've been either. Or both. You can't really know, because you can never truly know what another person feels and thinks. Not without being them.
Sorry I just like the route and yapping. But you know, regardless of whether or not her smile is protected, she gets a happy ending and protected smile in Killing Game anyway so it's okay

Though conversely, that also adds a strange sort of positivity to We Are One too, I think. It's very easy, probably intentionally so, to view the plan to bring everybody into the Retsnom fold as a bad thing, but ultimately, Darumi is doing it because she actually believes it'll make Takumi happy and end all the fighting. Even at the very end, all we really have to go off is them mentioning that 'it's what they remember feeling like'. It's up to the reader to draw their own conclusions over how much of 'them' is still them, if they all have individual will to go with their memories or if it's just a LARPing act, or whether it really even matters at all.
I just think the route is super neat and offers as many reasons to feel good about each ending as they do reasons to feel bad, huge props to the writer

To be honest the Hundred Line length is vastly over-exaggerated.
There's SO MUCH filler dialogue that's repeated ad nauseum in every route, you probably spend like 2 hours just listening to morning/night announcements from Sirei alone across an entire playthrough, and even if you skip the combat you still have the extremely slow battle transitions where enemies slowly walk in and your goals pop up and what not.
If you cut all that shit out the game would probably be 30% shorter.
