update: turns out mk84s can penetrate the deck (mk83s apparently can't, at least when I tried) so you don't need to bother going for side impacts, just dump your load along the deck and it should take it out

just tried it on my second trip that match:
first pass with 2x mk84s slightly off centerline took xir down to 26% crew, second pass with another 2x finished it off on the first impact
so somewhere around 2-4 will probably work, but since they use actually shi(t)p damage models it will depend where you actually hit instead of fixed explosive mass like the old ones
unfortunately there's no way to view the damage models in game like you can playable shi(t)ps, technically you CAN view them in the CDK but that has limited utility since it's janky as fuck and there's no weapon simulation

kuznetsov has a single main ammo storage centerline just behind the island + some aux storage at the back for CIWS shit or whatever, forrestal has 3 ammo stores evenly spaced down the center + aux storage at top rear

I've grinded a lot of the USSR tree with the Su-25K and the MiG-23ML when it was playable (now it's not)

If you want to grind the air tree, it's a bad pick. It could be useful on ground RB if you already have a lineup but the RP gains are unexistant. If you want to play RB to grind it... in the Su-39 you'll be just food for everyone, and you'll be totally better off by picking the 10.7 Su-25K.

Basically they nerfed its radar (you could change manually to MTI radar and use that) that enabled you to shoot the very good radar missle (R24-R) at people with the ground in their background from every altitude, and it was basically it's bread and butter. Now you cannot control the radar anymore and it automatically decides (based on you altitude) its mode, and most of the times is not obviously MTI. Also they EXTREMLY gimped its flight model, before if you controlled the wing-sweep and you put it at 100% you could even go head to head with a F-14A at least... now you cannot unturn even a fucking F-4S phantom, that is a fucking brick...that can take 3x your radar missles.
And the cannon sucks, it's the same 23mm water pistol with shit ballistic and low ammo count. It's just overall bad. What you could actually do with that is load up napalm and bomb bases i guess, but that gets boring real fast imho.

I like the Hornets because I like my planes to have a lot of ordinance, they're still very good imo and have a decent battle rating, people probably don't like them because they don't have ARH missiles but you can still do perfectly well with the missiles you have. Get the Phantom then, it's the best grinder in the game. The only problem with it is that there are so many other premium Phantoms around. Do a quick youtube search of how to deal with the ARH missiles you'll face that the F-14 Tomcats have and you're all set, they're pretty easy to dodge with a little patience.

These days, anti-cheats do not ban you right away like they did in the past. Instead, they wait and stack up detections, then hit large groups all at once in ban waves. This way they catch more cheaters before the cheat developers can react and patch their software.

WT is a f2p game but it has real anti-cheat and active moderation. It is on the same level as games like Valorant or Apex Legends in terms of security. Of course cheaters exist. They always will in competitive F2P games. What matters is how consistently the developers fight back. Gaijin actually does that. They post ban reports regularly and they have been banning thousands every few weeks. That is proof they are not ignoring the problem.

If you really want to talk about cheater-infested games, look at Warzone, PUBG, or other F2P shooters with little to no account penalty and no real anti-cheat updates. That is where you see blatant aimbots every other match. War Thunder does not come close to that level.

Thinking every good player in War Thunder is cheating just means you have not fully learned the game yet. A lot of what looks like cheating is just good game sense, spotting mechanics, or experience. Once you understand how the game works under the hood, most of those suspicious moments make perfect sense.

Also go statwatch the banned account. MOST of them are lowlvls with a couple of matches onto their accounts, or stolen accounts abandoned 5 years ago that reappeared this *CURRENT MONTH* just to get banned.
