main problem for me atm is there's only three 'real' characters, and they're motoha, merope, and the merchant lady. these three have world/plot importance and gameplay importance. no other character currently has both, and i can't discern from the current event if events will be any good at doing this. chinagirl hasn't been a sufficient pitch. i like motoha so maybe i will get summer motoha, but this implies the only characters they can sell me are those involved in the main story, and the main story may only include two new characters per palace. this seems low.

Personally I vastly prefer the beginning of P5 X over P5. Characters but also the story. You can funnily enough explain A LOT with everyone loses their motivation. It's cheap, but effective to have the police do nothing about it. Because no way in fucking hell you can talk yourself out with "it wasn't by purpose" when the girl flies over the fucking "fence" and gets hurt. Accident or not, you are at fault.
Just like you don't need to deliberately drive your car into another to be responsible for the damages, the same applies to hurting someone.

Leo feels kinda tricky to use in general purpose circumstances but Shoyu just seems like he does everything? He's got the BEST gun in the game which even does a bonus status effect, he's easy to gear since all he wants is HP, he can shred defense like a champ while also being a tank/healer combo... Generally my rule of thumb is don't use treasure demons on anything you can buy with coins or farm.

His skill 3 sucks anyway. It's 2 turns, way too much hassle, makes him retarded on Auto too. Like his phys skill 1 just hits like a truck anyway and crits all the time since it's multi-hit, and I think has bonus Crit Chance above 80% HP.
So frankly, the healing is fine, and I can't be asked to spend a turn charging Solarbeam except maybe during boss fights where I can't down the boss even with Crits.

By all means, set up something obtuse during boss fights where the boss can't be downed, and the boss has no gimmick which wants you to Guard or die at random, and enemies have no Debuffs... like totally, go for it.

I've been using Senor Onion and there's 3 things which make his kit good to me
1) Fantastic gun. Each attack is 6 shots which makes him a crit machine, he has 7 uses of his gun attack which means he'll almost certainly knock at least one enemy down - if not all of them - in addition to lowering defense
2) His Phys skill with Def Down gives your offensive characters more damage output, and with his Speed he's all but guaranteed to act before anyone else so everyone gets the full benefit from it
3) Being able to Taunt lets your squishier characters, like Panther or Motoha, avoid big single target hits that would oneshot them, which gives them more turns to deal damage. A dead DPS deals 0 damage. I've had so many fights where the boss is somewhere between 10-25% and Shun throws himself on a grenade to let the rest of the party push through.

The Freeze from his Skill 1 is occasionally useful, and the healing from his Skill 3 and Highlight can give some chip healing but they aren't enough to move the needle on him.

Soi is great for him, but he is not typically on your team, it just makes him kinda busted for the few occasions he is. Leon is a good long term investment since it makes him buff more so it will benefit whatever carry you pull to A6.
