Coming from WH2 and I’m getting filtered by Imrik in my first chaos dwarf campaign. It’s only turn 12 so my army is literally over half orc/goblin laborers and I only have the 2 free starter missile units with everything else regular chaos dwarf infantry. Meanwhile he has an entire 20 stack of spears/rangers/archers with dragon princes, a fire wizard bitch, and a fucking sun dragon.
I can auto resolve wipe them out and only lose 1 unit of hobgoblins but I really wanted to outdo the AI with no luck after 2 whole hours. I’m usually better than auto resolve so idk if the auto resolve is just OP in WH3 or what. Manually fighting him always leads to half my army vanishing before I win but desu that sounds more realistic than the shit the auto resolve puts out.

It actually doesnt matter here, Fireglaives and Blunderbussies put massive damage out, theyll still melt whoever you concentrate on first because of the high AP, which also means don't bring hobgobbo archers to the fight, their lack of AP makes them useless. As for his normal troops, the Kdaai Fireborn (since im assuming youre playing Drazoath) will rape the rest with ease.

Labourers aren't worth it outside of emergencies, anon. If you can't recruit Hobgoblin stuff, recruit another lord. Chorfs have no supply line penalty, so your Drazhoath could be followed by two-three other lords gaining XP in the same battles, and those lords could be more useful than the labourers.

I like those that add new races, factions led by new legendary mods, and those that add landmarks. Been playing this game like big collect-them-all: getting lords via force or diplomacy, waging wars just to build another landmark that will give +5 MD to some chaff unit or bunch of resources to trade with. Personally, I really recommend:
- races: Araby, Albion, Marienburg, Mousillon, Grudgebringers and Border Princes mods are really great. I also recommend two mods that adds cathayan undeads. Nagash mod also seems cool, but I haven't played with it much - has some weird compatibility issues with my modlist.
- LL: Mixu's Legendary Lords and Legendary Characters are amazing. Might of the Maw adds cools stuff for ogres, and there is a big mod for Norsca which makes every tribe at least a bit more interesting. Dukes of Brettonia adds too many lords, but it is cool. Roar of the Jade Sea adds Yin-Yin.
- landmarks: Immortal Landmarks, Landmarks of Legend and Landmarks of Eternity work together well. Get some mod with more building slots if you run all three.

Other than that VCO is amazing (even if not all LLs have new objectives), IEE is fun, stuff like Seasons and Holidays, BPI, Land Encounters, Fusion Wizard or Simple Dynamic Settlement (tried to use OvN Lost World, but it really fucks with my game) should be in game already.

Listen here, shit for brains - No army worth its weight in shit ever had the commander moving individual or blocks of units into formations on the fly one at a time. IF they were not properly drilled in manoeuvres they were utterly crushed by those that did with he sole exceptions of outnumbering your enemy by a ridiculous amount and washing over them by sheer virtue of numbers.

Hello. I have some experience with Total War, but the last time I really played through a whole campaign was ~7 years ago with the High Elves. I bought War3 and I’m looking to get my nose on the grindstone and get good again. What faction should I go for? I tried a 20-turn tester with Grimgor and the Cathayan Iron Dragon guy, but didn’t really commit to either. Grimgor felt fun, though; very honest and visceral tactics, build a 20-stack of Big ‘Uns, Boyz and Black Orcs and get to krumping. Kholek Suneater fucked me but I wasn’t trying by then.

I took out the nurgle/beastmeme/greenskins shits and was mass attacking Vlad and securing the centre of the Empire just to have multiple Norscans sail south and start setting everything on fire. I really love chink aesthetics, but playing chingchongs is so boring. It's like a bad mixture of defensive but with the most underwhelming mobility offensive options. It's a weird mix that doesn't work, unlike super defensive dawi that are fun on virtue of minmaxing that, or skaven that are more scrappy and glass cannony than dawi but still plenty fun.

My other two votes where daniel because he's a snorefest, and bretonnia because it's very one note in a bad sense. Truth be told aside from daniel and chingchongs, no other armies are boring.
