I'm somewhat new so forgive me if this question is silly, but I see in all ground tech trees that the meta for tanks goes from WW2 stuff to stabilized APFSDS firing lightly armored fast tanks around 8.0 BR. My question is: what are the differences between a 8.0 tank like the Leopard I and a 12.0 Leopard 2A7V that warrants a 4.0 BR difference? From what I see, a Leopard I would have no problems killing a Leopard 2A7V, and they are both stabilized APFSDS firing fast tanks that have only enough armor to stop small autocanon rounds.

the leo 2a7v has more armor than you think because the stat cards don't show the true values for composite armor. Preview the 2a7 and go into xray, and look at the protection analysis. On top of that, the 2a7 is much faster overall, has a better round, thermal optics (leos are some of the only MBTs with gen 3 thermals, it's a very short list). It's possible, but a leo 1 would have a very hard time piercing anything but very specific parts of a 2a7v, and the possibility of penetration is pretty low. A 2A7V however can eat top tier APFSDS all day and not be penned, except in the same potential weakspots. Like I said, I would encourage you to preview tanks and look at the protection analysis, it helps a lot to determine where you actually need to shoot other tanks you face in your own vehicles as well.

They don't have any issues with adding SACLOS SAMs. Honestly, it'd probably be great as an addition to 11.0, maybe 11.3 or something. A lot of countries used it, so I could actually see them adding it as a copy paste vehicle to a bunch of trees now that they've implemented the current SAM systems. I imagine they put the new ones in because of all the wailing over top tier CAS, but we'll see other SAMS later.

I'm not claiming to be good at the game but I've got Germany, Russia, and Britain past 10.0 and none of them had the actual black hole that is USA ground past 6.7 that I've experienced. XM800T is decent, M60A3 TTS is okay but it sucks compared to almost all the other 9.0 MBTs. Uptiers make me want to kill myself in it. SPAA is fine and I like SPAA, but it's hard to grind ground with it. That's about it. Everything else is god awful to the point I've refused to play it. I almost have XM803. At least I know that's good since I've spaded the kraut version (well, KPz-70 but basically the same thing). Is this their punishment for so many good CAS options? I'm only around 6.3 in the air tree so I can't speak to that. Although both the Bearcats are ludicrously overpowered.

Comes down to target prioritization and making the right decisions once you're being shot at. Shoot their barrel first, break their cannon breech if you can, then they're defenseless - another good option is shooting to the left of the cannon barrel, usually the gunner is there, but if they have an ace or expert crew, or commander override, they might be able to shoot you before you can reload. you can engage other targets that might jump you if they can't shoot back though is the general idea.
