I find this claim to be extremely strange, because my zealot gets accepted more often than declined. Maybe it's the h40 true survivor, maybe it's the actual dedicated support build that convinces people. Either way, most chorus zealots are far bigger deadweight shitters than psykers, because whenever I'm not on zealot, it feels like there never is any fucking chorus when we actually need it. The weird thing is that all you have to do is pay attention to the bottom left side of the screen while blindly spraying promethium everywhere and occasionally sliding backwards. The random human shitters in SM2 that you can kill just by running through them are the dregs and scabs of Darktide. The heavy-ass boltgun in Darktide is the equivalent of the basic pistol. A single Rubric Marine would be roughly the equivalent of a Darktide boss.

I don't think the marines in SM2 feel particularly weak, but the design is inferior to Darktide's so certain situations force you to do goofy shit like rollspamming or cover-peekaboo to survive. Against hordes of common melee mooks, the astartes are an unbeatable force, but just like in lore, if the enemy has ranged ordnance with enough punch, they will take off the head of an Emperor's chosen, just like an astartes would do the same to an unwary chaos warrior in the open. It's not unheard off of a lucky guardsman or a well-placed rocketeer managing to pop a chaos marine.

Because space marines are fighting against actually horrifying enemies, like they are meant to be doing. SM2 has regular humans in the game (equivelant to dregs and scabs), you literally kill them just by walking/sprinting into them.
Tyranids on the other hand are bio-engineered super predators who constantly evolve to match their enemy and over come the enemy's defences or offence. Like genestealers tear space marine terminators (THE BEST personal armor imperium can muster, which is retardedly durable and protective) apart with their bare hands.

Killing some random dipshit cultists and some disgruntled traitor guard, is hardly space marine business, unless cult starts to summon greater daemons in mass.

As a person who likes both:
In general, the scale of a threat marines are dealing with is much larger, as you are blasting through literal hordes on nid warriors, lictors, rubrics, sorcerers and terminators, on top of your usual chaff. Like a 1k sons sorcerer or a biovore would be an equivalent of an Orthus Offensive boss, scale-wise.
However, the problem is that the defensive design of SM2 combat makes you feel much weaker than a reject in DT. At the end of the day, while the enemies in SM2 are much larger, we are also playing as marines, which means that from a gameplay feel perspective- the combat feels exactly the same, but not really, since your weapons are less deadly and enemies are tankier, which leads to your characters feeling much weaker than they are. SM2 in general has asinine class, enemy and weapon balance. Like it's way worse than DT as far as player power balance is concerned.

For one, having low damage on relic zealot isn't strictly a bad thing. If the other players are using the ammo well, you're not expected to have particularly high damage. As long as you're picking off gunners and thinning out dense hordes with flamer, you're doing your job. You remembered to bring purity aura, yes?
For two, I get the impression that you're randomly slotting a flamer zealot into the team without discussing team composition and who gets to take ammo. Never bring more than two classes that need ammo pickups, unless one of them is a veteran, and even then it's questionable unless those guns are ammo efficient. The damage you're expected to deal is almost directly proportional with how much ammo the team is feeding you, which is also proportional to how much infinite cleave aoe clear the team needs, and whether the team has some form of brittleness. Psyker can apply it. Flamer can apply it if you don't need the strength blessing for killing bosses.

Or, in practical terms, you should either be #1-2 in damage, behind only the psyker or the dedicated DPS chad zealot, or expect to be near the bottom, depending entirely on how much ammo you get.

Martyr's Purpose offers better stability by virtue of bailing you out of most fuck-ups, whether on your part or someone else's. It's undeniably worse when things are going according to plan, but that only happens with genuinely good players. I usually play with randoms, and can't guarantee that.

I also recommend you get the -25% damage resistance on specialist/elite kill, next to the ammo talent. This is just a skill issue. You can USUALLY make that happen by playing better. The distance of the stagger is reasonably large, and with some dodge sliding around, you shouldn't be getting knocked out of it more than maybe twice a game, if that. It's just a matter of learning what things CAN knock you out of it, and making sure not to use relic during.
Also just, y'know, run a max health build with gunner resist and go stand in gunner fire or walk into a flamer puddle for a second if it's really that important to get chorus off. Health becomes an offensive resource with martyr's purpose, and no matter what the hardstuckie retard detractors might say, the +2 wounds talent and taking an intentional knee for a health (and thus cooldown) refund is genuinely useful.

Dedicated shooter removal isn't a deep concept, and if they're running bolter, they could still help burn monstrosities with it. That's about par for the course when playing with shitters, but mostly symptomatic of the 30-40 havoc range. In my post-reset climb back up to 40, I also had a small handful of players that obviously never reached 40 before due to significant skill issues, EXACTLY as you said, including some overextending tard triggering 2 back to back boss spawns and then panicking. If you are actually better than the average tard, my most useful advice would be to get on that shit as soon as you physically can, because the good players are going to climb out of the trenches real fucking fast, and leave all the shitters behind.
This has been true from day 1. Climbing havoc becomes exponentially more difficult the more time passes, because good players just abandon the lower difficulties entirely.

If you're playing with arbitrators in the team, this is kind of normal. On veteran, for instance, I'm used to killing important enemies and at least having the highest elites and/or specialists killed (scoreboard mod), but with at least one good arbitrator in the team, I'm genuinely lagging behind, even positioning wise. I've had to build into stamina to even be able to reasonably keep up, and I definitely don't keep up score wise. Part of that is rust after playing a lot of Arby's, but a large portion of that is just the piggy being too strong as a generalist.

Ogryn's designated role is more or less to be the melee horde smasher, and arbitrator is almost as good at that job, arguably better in lower difficulties. Additionally, lower difficulties don't spawn enough enemies for ogryn to really shine. That's not to say the class isn't overtuned, it's basically babby easy mode up to aurics/maelstroms, and even there it's kinda easy. It's just that you kind of need a critical mass of enemies that your enemies can't easily get rid of, for ogryn to really shine.

Mortis trials are disproportionately difficult for inexperienced players, and even more so for low level characters without builds, and without the knowledge of what makes a good build. The qrd is that boss spawns can and will cause a wipe, especially for inexperienced players that panic and scatter when scary music and big healthbar show up. Keep a cool head, and bring a weapon that deletes bosses, JUST IN FUCKING CASE. For ogryn, it's twin stubber with the right skill, point blank barrage, using the burn node. Don't drop below half your ammo, just in case a boss spawns.
I'd recommend you play normal missions, or with a friend that's actually knowledgeable enough to carry you through cancerous wave RNG if it must be mortis.

Wrath is obviously amazing, and I think you should always take it.
Rampage stacks multiplicatively with Wrath and lets you horde clear without turning it on.
Either of the heat reducing blessings are very good for power mode, but I've found that I only need it to dispatch armor, and it usually lasts JUST long enough that I don't need more. This might change if you use it in havoc.
Some players swear by the explosion blessing when your heat gauge maxes out, but I don't really get it.

Yeah it's still the most powerful weapon in the entire game, with a handful of crazy strong builds.
Fatshark promised to nerf it by reworking the special into a parry and adjusting its numbers.
Losing the special, in my opinion, hurts it the most, because the stun stab is truly fucking broken and the main reason I use it in havoc 40.
