basically the less you invest in dog the more can you buff yourself, and you can make dog viable by investing the absolute minimum so there really isn't many reasons to dump all your talent points in dog
if you're still playing regular difficulties anything will work, arbites is overpowered and you will be fine with any build all the way to auric maelstrom
you will start feeling the lack of cleave in havoc and that's when you could ask for advice
regarding your build, you have too many talents allocated in the top and middle sections of the tree, obviously more powerful talents are located further down
most talents that give you damage in the lower section (that goes after skills) are good

remember that coomertranny-ish OP images are often the first sign of troonfestations in generals

Damage reduction that works against whatever you are fighting. It's strong because of how consistent it is.
>Serrated Maw
This isn't that much brittleness, but it makes your dog far stronger against Crushers.
>Weight of the Lex
If you heavy attack often, which with the Shield you do, this node is basically must pick.
>True Grit
In havoc, every hit does more than 50 damage, so this is actually very good. But it has many ways in which it doesn't work as expected so it's not as strong as it seems at first.

Walk it off is basically free Toughness, it procs on you sprinting, pushing, blocking and swapping weapons. It could be useful when there are no enemies nearby and you're dealing with ranged damage, because you can literally just proc it by swapping weapons.

What weapons are actually good now? I keep hearing mixed things but the general consensus is that everything I used to enjoy using sucks now? I haven't played the game in over a year so I have to relearn all the new skill trees and I guess go find new weapons since all of mine are still from the old loot gambling system and most of them seem to be trash now.

This general is a terrible place to go for advice on how to build arbitrators, because half the players here are some combination of

so it's extremely rare you'll get actually valuable build advice.

Your talents look good. Going top-heavy gives you stupid amounts of survivability, but going bottom right for true grit SHOULD be more valuable since it saves you from fuck-ups and taking overheads. Rebreather similarly gives you a massive safety blanket.
The BTL dog damage isn't necessary or worth it with execution order, and I strongly believe you should always take the 7.5m if just for charging through lakes of fire.
The build I'm posting is obviously somewhat low on damage, and that's because it focuses primarily on dog damage, using bolt pistol with puncture to clear dense hordes with the dog. Otherwise it's just a very tanky melee build, I like using the shield. Keep in mind that this does not keep up, damage wise, with dedicated damage builds, and is NOT optimized for high havocs, where I'd run something different.

Everyone is saving the Arbites shield and maul is good but it feels like absolute dogshit to play. Low mobility, weak damage, slow swings. What's the catch? Is having a shield just that good?

The special attack is really good. Two aoe stuns with pretty good range. It's like having break the line x2 on demand to open a bunch of enemies up for your team. Higher difficulties make it better.
Shove attack -> light -> heavy -> light -> repeat. That's the horde clear combo if you're using the 75% cleave on shove talent (which you should be)

I made a female Arbiter to see how the voices are and they are pretty lame compared to the male ones.
The super special voice actress from baldies gate has a ridiculous accent and has no enthusiasm.
The only good one was the Fatalist, even the Karelian voice supposedly the Maul sounds like she would rather be doing something else.

Meanwhile the male voice actors are screaming putting passion into it with them getting more intense as they enact violence upon the heretics.

Fatalist has the most passion kind of disappointing but I guess its only 12 dollars.

Multiple encounters, they just haven't fully grasped the concept of the immaterium yet: Ethereals do have some warp presence (compared to the rest of the almost-Blank Tau) and one of them got Daemonhost-possessed once. There have been incidents involving Gue'vesa defectors with psyker aptitudes, and this has made the Tau put in procedures and regulations for that.

First of all, wear headphones. The game has a lot of important audio cues. You'll learn to listen for them.
Specifically for dodging, most melee and ranged attacks will play a whoosh sound effect. If you dodge during that, you should avoid it entirely. Sprinting forward and sliding also works for projectiles, but trash enemies magnetize to you during their attack animation, so sliding without a dodge doesn't work.
You can slide out of a dodge by immediately crouching during the slide to gain a little bit more distance. This is often useful, if for no other reason than helping you dodge projectiles.
Every weapon has its own mobility stat and number of dodges. This is not displayed in game unless you install a mod to show it. Once you run out of dodges, every follow-up dodge becomes worse (but technically still usable, and you can still dodge with good timing). You need to not dodge for a while to refresh them, and in the heat of battle, the timing is longer than you might think.

Don't rely on blocking too much. Blocking IS good, and I DO think you should still default to blocking when you have absolutely no other idea what to do, and in a hairy life or death situation, it can and will save your life, but good positioning and dodging are almost always going to be better by default. It depends somewhat on your weapon and class, and the enemies you're fighting. Sometimes ragers will just pin you down and there's no other out than blocking while you wait for your ability to recharge or an ally to intervene, but you should ideally avoid getting into those situations in the first place. Psyker's peril block is a major outlier here; many consider it to be a crutch, but I do think it's pretty good if for no other reason that it lets you safely get a res off most of the time.

Next class 100% won't be a frontliner as an Ork would. My theory is that they went with Adeptus Arbites because the game had an ask for a mobile frontliner, as people really didn't want to play the only frontliner before (Ogryn) because the class is very slow and has no access to puny-sized weapons. Arbites fixes that.

As people have already mentioned dodging is your no. 1 (one, una) tool in melee: You should basically constantly be dodging to the sides while mashing MB1, and dodging backwards if you see some big wind-up shit coming down on you. Not everything can be dodged out of in this way though and that's where blocking becomes mandatory. You'll learn what to use and when in time.
And fucking disable the "doubletap directional button or jump for dodge" options if those are still on by default!

Dealing with hordes imo is the most weird thing about about these games. Pick a basic weapon like a sword. Find an attack that sweeps from side to side. Do it and move your camera alongside the movement of an attack. So if your hammer hits from left to right, move camera to the right for a bit, so it'll cleave a bit more targets. Some weapons cleave better then others and it's faster to get to that attack in a combo.
After doing an attack dodge to either side. Do another attack and dodge again. If there are special enemies in the crowd keep an eye on them. Hold block and press attack from time to time, it'll push enemies and interrupt them. You have dealt with the horde now. Every other mechanic comes naturally as you explore classes, weapons combos etc.

Every weapon has a number of effective dodges, and when you exceed the effective dodges it will go into ineffective dodges, which go into the negatives of your effective dodges, each one becoming worse and having less i-frames. In VT2 your dodges recharge after less than a second from the moment you execute your last dodge. In DT it's closer to a full second.
You should be dodging every second. You should also get a mod that tells you your current dodge count (such as NumericUI). You should be dodging left and right while culling a horde. Yes, it's closer to spam, but when fighting stronger enemies that can tear you apart in a few hits like Crushers and Ragers, you will want to pay closer mind to them.
>Audio cues
There's a woosh sound effect that plays whenever an enemy from outside of your view is going to hit you. Remember that your block AND push work in 360 degrees. Similarly, there is a sound effect that plays when you are going to get SHOT from outside of your view.
Dodge-sliding lets you build ground and dodge gunfire for longer than regular dodging, but dodge-sliding doesn't give you i-frames against melee hits.

The real problem are reapers that are currently spamming you, because those DO get through slide spam with enough reliability to be a problem. That's it.

Bolter is good. Some people consider it to be better than bolt pistol, but that's a high havoc take. You don't need the bolter's raw DPS or ammo in aurics.
You can either just carry a boltgun with puncture and use the dog, which is effectively just a longer wield time bolt pistol with more ammo and better mag dump.
Or you can build more heavily into ranged damage and melt monstrosities with mag dumps, while sniping with castigator's.

Yeah that about reflects my experience as well. I kinda like the shield, at least enough to run it in aurics, but with the current havoc season being so unfriendly to shield builds, I think I'll avoid playing ogryn entirely. I acknowledge how disgustingly powerful the pickaxes can be, but I just don't like them. Not that I mind, I'm not particularly invested in playing ogryn anyhow.

What staves were they running? If you had trauma staff then most shit just gets CC'd hard. Inferno staff also clears hordes so fast it never becomes an issue.
If the arby was doing his job and making sure that the psykers never had to switch to melee then it's not really surprising that you dominated.

Good afternoon gentlemen I'm returning to the game after a while (last played around the Carnival level release). I'm gonna be spamming Aurics to learn and max Psyker weps before pushing whatever Havoc is so with that in mind I have some questions:

Blaze Force Greatsword - looks cool but is it worth using over the DS? Is it more Fun?
Staves: I ended up settling on Trauma back then, I've tried the lightning staff but it still feels like dogshit, flamer staff seems kind of bad on Auric, and I've still never tried Voidstrike. Should I grind out flamer staff anyway for future havoc use or will I be able to stick with Trauma?
Have there been any balance changes to headpop/assail/smite? I ended up acquiring a taste for Smite purely to be able to save crusher/mauler rushes, which seemed to be the most common failure point in Damnation pugs, but very quickly dropped it when I started auric/maelstrom.
Should I just be a metafag and play Robocop class if I want speed + pug saving ability?
Lastly I'm running pic related for aurics atm, anything retarded in there? I think I'll end up swapping the stam regen on the curios but idk to what

I had a lot of uptime to Canine Morale if my Power DI wasn't lying to me (~12 minutes uptime in ~15 minute mission IIRC). Bleed is currently impossible to quantify because its damage state isn't registered to the dog or your own stats in any way (or something like that is what I've read on one of the scoreboard discussion pages).
