I just finished area 6 and I'm starting to get bodied and can't really 3* as easily with my tiny initial roster
do I just sweep whatever missions now for skill mats?

You could do 10-15 gap easily if you counter the units in the mission.
More than 20-30 it becomes hard

I looked through norse and celtic knots and her halo is more similar to celtic ones. the closest norse one is the mjolnir while the endless celtic knot looks the most similar

You don't need to 3*, 3* is literally just for the pyros and the ability to sweep. If you can still get 1* on a mission it's worth pushing on to get cafe upgrades and stuff.
If you're ACTUALLY brickwalling then yes, get your gear (nor skills, do NOT sweep for DVDs/ artifacts, the drop rate is horrific - you get those from other content).

If you're really struggling try dropping your roster / what maps are actually brickwalling you, I know I had a friend who was just getting filtered by robots dropping shields / flamethrowing his students and made up the time by actually CCing them instead of trying to ungabunga it.
