I actually play Forest as my main craft so I can tell you that things are dire without any evos, you literally can't throw them away and expect things to go well when kill turns are so tight and its a game of inches with the roach. No SEVO cuts your roach turn's damage by a lot without the carbuncle or just a straight up roach SEVO, and you'll see plenty of games where your opponent is on 15 and you got 12 in hand. EVOs are so precious as well to use with Glade to clear wide boards or Lily against stuff like Kuon and A&G. You can't answer those cards, you die basically.

Honestly though the biggest clear buff to an existing archetype I've seen is that Portal can run Odin now which is a huge bump for a deck that was already good. Like dragon is already getting a bunch of playables but it's hard to say if that'll be enough from their current state.

I'd argue that it'd have an identity if it simply had a bad mechanic, but the problem is that blood's mechanics very often didn't exist even when it was good. It constantly spent meta games either trying to ignore its own "class identity" like the plague, or completely circumventing them with cheat cards.

Shadow's mechanics can be pretty boring, it's true that midshadow in particular was very often just a stickier but slower version of Sword, but burial rites, reanimate and shadows were constantly seeing use and made good pivots for the class to be tuned around. Even if you did the same thing as Sword, you'd do that same thing differently. Blood was very, very often just a deck that might as well have been all neutrals.

Yeah my account is perfectly fine now I have two complete decks and I could probably make a third or fourth on the spot if I felt like it, but my initial luck was poor and I didn't have a deck for events up early on. I'm a light spender even so I wasn't even totally F2P.

Front loading resources on new accounts and then scaling back is just way smarter. We've gotten a ton of hand outs which I appreciate but they don't fix the first impressions. It feels like the damage control simply came too late.

Downside is obviously no heal 2, no draw 2 from Olivia. Control forest shouldn't need the draw 2 anymore. The only real loss here is the heal 2.

Roach is such a fundamentally good strategy that the entire forest card pool is compared against it. It's easy to tech or replace cards if you need to answer any meta adjustments and it's difficult to nerf.

Once you've learned roach even if there're other viable, maybe even better strategies, you don't bother stopping to learn them. And the devs always balance new cards with roach in mind to start so it's harder to fit them into standard archetypes. People didn't even want to drop roach out of neutral forest back in the day when it was anti-synergistic and the deck was tier 0 and it took awhile for people to accept it wasn't the best forest deck.

The PP cost isn't really a problem. Getting to kill turn isn't even unreasonable against most match ups, it's mostly roach itself that keeps it down. The problem with Rose Queen right now, just at the current moment, is that you're actually very unlikely to have enough bramble bursts for lethal in your hand when you get there and then you just run out of gas and die to the opponent's turn 10 wincon.

The biggest issue with Olivia is that sword can retaliate with Yurius super evo. It leaves the other follower alive, but it can't kill sevo Yurius on its own, and any card you play will just brick the board further.
Even if Yurius superevos, he can't kill Lymaga so their option is to use someone else will leave themselves open to roach on their next turn. The board lock also means they can't get full value from Amalia/Lumimage Amelia on t8, leaving them even more open.
