But Otto's whole thing is that he's a gigantic simp who never moved beyond his childhood and so mentally fucked up by being a cause for Kallen's death he has nothing going except guilt and self-hate. His animated short makes it clear he's never moved on and is just a pathetic man still clutching to sunken costs. Everything he does to bring Kallen back fails, from the entirety of 2nd Eruption to cloning her, to smaller plans like failing to convince Joyce so bad that Schisckal split in half. The plan he did that finally worked was sacrificing himself so another timeline's Kallen lives. He's looked fondly by Theresa and Durandal because he was genuinely nice and supporting to them like a father figure.

Otto is an anomaly of an anomaly. The concept of someone losing their humanity and sacrificing their happiness and connections to others for a specific ideal (Kallen) is fucking fascinating. It's easy to shit on his character as the alpha and omega of simps, but this guy's thought processes is so alien because of the fucked up shit he justified to cope with being human.
