I'm not particularly smart so give me some rope here, but when people say things like "Best of 2" or "Single Elimination" I think I know what those mean but then I look at this and I don't know what the fuck I'm looking at.

Like if you play a best of 3 games against a team and lose, sometimes you go to a "loser's bracket" and other times you're just gone from the tournament. So then you have a "Winner's Bracket" (those who won their best of 3 matches) and "Loser's Bracket" (those who lost their best of 3 matches) but if you won your first B03 and then lost your next BO3 how...how does....like I don't get it.

different tournaments have different things going on, i havent been following this one so I don't know the format.
personally i think the more complicated they try to make it, the less it sticks and holds value for spectators. people try to make the counterpoint that at big tourneys, people start leaving in droves when more and more teams get eliminated but that is gonna happen regardless.
I think the best way to set up a circuit is how MLG used to do it - teams gets points based on prior placings. the more points = better seed. double elimination, results influence the next tournament, etc etc. end of year, the top teams (usually like 8 or 16) that place get invited to a special tournament thats similar to worlds in terms of prestige and money.

There does seem to be this over-hyping and "spectacle" focus that these things try to go for. I mean the superbowl is a big deal, lasts a few hours, is the talk of things for a few days, makes a lot of money, and that's it.

But for some reason E"sports" seems to think that they need to not only have these things last for days on end, not just a one day thing, but also make a gazillion dollars which I still don't get. Maybe it's my idiot brain but I would be far, far more invested in watching matches if there was one (1) global tournament called WORLDS where the best team (read: 1 team, not TEAMS, singular, team) from each continent meets olympic style in a city for B03 elimination rounds until a winner is chosen.

The local "in continent" matches that decide who goes to worlds don't need to be multi fucking billion dollar things. I only care about worlds, it's okay if people like watching a bunch of different matches but at the end of the day I don't see much point in the fucking 'aura' of esports.

you gotta realize that the endgame damage graphs dont mean that much, especially if you're roaming, fighting, skirmishing, trading health and in general you're fighting which is correct depending on your pick/matchup, while the correct play for an adc is to sit and not miss a single CS, most time only stepping away from that activity when they are certain to get a kill or are necessary to claim an objective, so most times you will have more dmg than your adc no matter the game outcome, if you lose he's 2k you're 10k, that means nothing as he simply didnt get to play and no one played around him

From my spectator experience over the years, the Worlds setup is basically combining the entirety of the NFL playoffs AND superbowl into one mega tournament, which is why it lasts for weeks at a time. And I'm kind of on the fence with it; on one hand it's hype that basically the entire month is mega esports time for league, but it does have fatigue set in too for me at random points. And like you said, because it's not a single day event, riot feels the need to just milk the profits from it for all they can (and rightly so since it's their big thing).

The one point of contention I'd have with you is that, if worlds could ONLY have one team from each region, i think it would lose a lot of hype because there are many years where the arguably ranked number 1, number 2, and number 3 (etc) are all in the same region.

Anyway I get why you feel on it and I dont think its a "you" thing either, theres an issue with presentation that riot has to make compromises on to make and maintain high viewership, to the point where it arguably has impacted the spirit of competition in some ways (like stacking brackets to get shitter fanfavorite teams like NA teams to higher placings potentially)

I 100% understand what you are getting at. I am simply trying to relay the fact that there is a huge gap between me and my adc seemingly more often than not. Whether that makes me bad, or them bad, or both of us not good for each other, that can all be debated, but due to the stats and the general game sense I am trying to describe, I feel like I'm always being paired with an inept player more than not.

Also to your second point, I think l am rightfully in low elo (low plat), and I guess I don't know what hard carries I should be playing as support, unless you're suggesting that I play another role entirely. From my experience, if you're not playing a hard carry that can dominate majority of the game on their own, and you're just a factor that still relies on your team while supporting them, you are looking to turn the fair 50/50 to 60/40 at best if you're consistent and don't make stupid mistakes/queue tilted. Simply, if you don't hard carry, you're just going to have to take the long path of lower WR and climbing at a steady pace.
