It's much more competitively oriented than Hearthstone for better or for worse. The gameplay is much more "better player with better deck wins" and there's very little variance for a card game. There's basically nothing to do except play the competitive game.
F2P is mostly fine but it's largely reliant on random hand outs while the core income you get is pretty bad. They're generous with handouts so far but that could just die any day and then we'll be fucked.

Forest is the only class that is actually implementing specific mechanics properly. The small pieces are shared between between decks but the big pieces require more specific decks. Meanwhile with Portal and Rune it's the opposite so Artifact and Spellboost are just allowed to take all the big pieces from the other decks and use them for zero cost.
