the original monster hunter has tutorial prompt dialogue actively encouraging you to use flash bombs on velocidrome in order to stop it from moving to a different area so that you can continue to attack it quickly. In general with MH1 it's very clear that the devs have vigorously played their own game and fully understand both how it's played and how people will engage with it. This puts it in sharp contrast to Wilds, where it's blindingly obvious that no one on the core design staff plays the game at all or understands the how players will interact with the game holistically. Case in point, they seem to have overhauled the deco system based on the assumption that players would spend a lot of time roaming about the open world, and made all important skills tied to your weapon so as to make switching to your secondary weapon more seamless and appealing, without realizing that you can easily just fast travel to one of the dozens of camps everywhere to respec thus making the secondary weapon largely pointless, or that there's no reward for spending any amount of time in the field because everything is always visible in the map and you can just farm for investigations without ever leaving base camp, so in practice all this really does is homogenize all weapons into having the same deco slots and completely gut setbuilding armor-side as there's now no reason to ever not run 100% affinity dps slop

That was my initial impression too because I was used to the insanely colorful oldgen villages but going back recently kamura actually has a lot of color. Starting from the entrance there's the bright red bridge with all the multicolor flags, the blue banners hanging around, kagero's cart filled with colorful stuff, look up and the main building has those bright orange flames, take a left and you're greeted with the pink sakura tree with the red/white banners underneath and red/white lanterns above, and if you go into the hub it's an explosion of red/pink. The buddy plaza is green green green with all the trees and rondine's green ship

So if you talk with Collen the Sailor in Elgado you can travel back to kamura but for whatever reason they don't have the same option to go from Kamura to Elgado. There's even a little boat that takes you to the island with the training room but nothing going straight to Elgado. It's weird too because initially when you started the expansion you talked to Rondine and she took you but that option is gone now. Does it return after I kill amatsu? I know you can just travel with the map but it just seems like such a strange oversight. Am I missing something?

normal shell damage isn't that good, and the others fall off is G rank, so gunnery isn't that good unless you get the +15 one that also reduce your wyvern fire cooldown
so you either play normal shells with classic sharpness+raw build, or you play long/wide but preferably wide with gunnery +15, no in between
and anyway most of your damage come from your poke poke upswing combo, shell poke upswing is an alternative for it come out slightly faster and can do it while moving
also some monsters are a terrible matchup without evade extender

When you reach DLC, you can dango hop level 4 bird caller. It makes collecting birds easier and faster. Personally, I always pick bird caller, unless the quest is in Arena.

Time limited event quests are are idiotic. I missed out on a cosmetic item last week and i feel robbed.
