D2 has a Free To Try system. Hop on, shoot aliens for a couple of days, and see if you like it. Most of the expansions are worth playing, especially at the price point they are now, but the current expansion is mostly a ball of Nothing, so be warned that you're not really building to anything at the moment.

You have to fork out even more money to bungie to get access to dungeons, a 3 player (non match made) game mode with mechanics and bosses, think a mini raid that can be soloed. There's a huge thing over the dungeon key that forces you to buy in game currency to buy the keys cause the dungeon key can only be bought in game

The matterball itself did not bother me, did not make me sick or anything, but its a gimmick, I hate gimmicks, and it slowed shit down. Mission was easy and I did not feel weak in anyway, only bit about the mission was the final bit with the Archon's, I initally looked about for some way to bring down the shield until I realized you can just walk in. Shot them all in the face with a machine gun, as the Traveller intended. Clicked around the new interface, upgraded Sweet Business once. Decided there was nothing worth staying in the game for as a solo who hates the vast majority of Destiny game design. Logged off, uninstalled again. 1/10 rating.

I think the concept of grinding power is fine, but it's basically been made a pointless stat since the advent of mandatory power deltas.
I think light level was at its best in the year of Lightfall, where we didn't go up at all for the whole year, but I also think that year was a terrible year for loot (that was the year that bungie were intentionally tuning down craftable weapons, and all seasonals were craftable). When you have no power grind and no loot worth grinding, you start to get issues, which we saw happen that year.

I will now posit something that may be considered radical: Shitty craftable loot in Lightfall's seasons led partially to Into the Light's success, which in turn led to Bungie opting to discontinue crafting in later seasons. If the seasonal guns had been better, ITL wouldn't have done as well (because the guns wouldn't have been craftable), and thus we wouldn't be where we are now.

It won't let you. You have to meet the minimum requirement to get in.
For example, I'm Power Level 30-ish because I really haven't had the time to play much since release. I can't get into any difficulty higher than Normal, because Advanced requires you to have 90 power to get in. That's somewhat fair, since I've stepped into old raids for testing (they're set at 200), and couldn't deal any damage.
I think the existence of power deltas is fine, but there's no reason I should need to farm up to go, say, beat up Shuro Chi for weapon levels.

Not just console players. Many PC players can't reliably hotswap without losing tempo. It's just not something people have ever needed to do outside of speedrunning and lowman challenges. That means this raid knew it wasn't going to have any real mechanics and opted to instead push the pure combat experience. The Overture ban also implies it was more to save face and prevent people from thinking the boss just had 20 billion HP when Overture bugged out.
This raid was built on one hell of a small budget and timeframe. Most of the raid team is probably pulling double duty or is way smaller than the SE team was. The actual bottom line of mechanics that needed to be designed and developed is close to the actual bare minimum, while most of the effort seems to have been put in the combat tuning.

My other idea was to have those four slots work as floating hot-swap slots which you can slot in your other loadouts when you need to. Four hot slots should be enough for any sort of min maxing.

Notswap isn't the only solution to this issue it's just classic Bungie being too lazy to come up with a solution which stops you needing to load your entire menu every 2 seconds.

I’m fully on board with streamers ruining raiding. Day 1 raids used to be challenging content you got to stay up all night trying to beat with the bros. And if you didnt beat it on day one that was ok because you kept levelling gear until you hit the sweet spot and got your first clear, which was always an amazing feeling.

Contest mode ruined this. Raids are literally designed around twitch viewership rather than player experience now. “What would Salt think about this encounter” is probably an actual question that gets asked during raid team meetings at Bungie.
