First Descendant's combat feels good, if a bit generic. Pacing feels good too, you're always moving, not much backtracking or having to do filler missions. Definitely more fun than Destiny 2 for sure. And this has a proper campaign with voiced/animated dialogue, it's not like you're playing a cheap mmo like Destiny. Destiny couldn't be bothered to do a proper campaign for some reason. The voice acting in FD is so-so, but at least it has voice acting and cutscenes. I don't know what Bungie were thinking, Destiny feels so half-assed compared to Halo.

So it's Marty's fault the audio in CE is all messed up? Some stuff is too loud and other stuff is too low. None of the other Halos have this problem because you can change the sound levels individually or they're better tuned for more balanced volumes. Some of CE's sounds are linked together for some reason so stuff is permanently too loud or too soft. And the defaults are messed up even back on the original xbox so it's not an MCC issue.

People would have just dropped the series, Halo barely has staying power as it is, now Master Chief isn't enough. Best thing for them to do now since they're separating the campaign and multiplayer into their own games. For the campaign take some cues from 90s Doom era shooters and Half-Life era shooters of the 2000s and combine them together and with Halo CE meaning faster movement and CE health system, have sprint, clamber, slide, assassinations, equipment, and upgrades, combine all of that with Halo's sandbox and have fun. Halo Studios is still AAA so that worries me, a lot. We'll see how this works out. It's a coin flip on whether Halo lives or dies from this. Also, seems like the next Halo project is going to act like some kind of launcher that will incorporate everything Halo, Halo CE remake, Halo 2 remake, Halo 3 remake, Halo 7, and Halo multiplayer all being released in their own timeframe. Given that it's technically the same game but everything can be separated in UE unlike Slipspace, the campaigns and multiplayer won't effect each other like past games. Also, because Microsoft switched to profitability, they're only making Master Chief games going forward, wonder that means for the Halo 2 remake.

It's important to have the correct mindset about campaign v multiplayer. That being that a true Halo game is a campaign experience first and foremost.
I'd be perfectly fine with the CE remake having firefight or some other PvE mode as its "multiplayer" offering for this reason.
Halo CE/1 had multiplayer thrown in the game in the last few months of development for the same reason any multiplayer was in a console game at the time, it was just expected to be there. The campaign WAS the game, and the multiplayer was extra. Now, it did turn out to be really good and pretty addicting, but it's important to understand that this existed in mostly a party game atmosphere. Yes, there were comp tournaments, but they are not representative of the average Halo CE multiplayer session.
Halo 2, or really rather Xbox Live, changed this, and set this unrealistic standard of Halo multiplayer being the face of the series. It was never meant to last, but it stuck, even as CoD 4 and onwards drained the popularity 3 years later.

tl;dr
A PVE-only game is sorely needed at this point to correct this wrongdoing and artificial ballooning of Halo's multiplayer to be its core identity.

There are plenty of games with long kill times, like Fortnite (especially with building), fighting games in general, mech games like Mecha Break, Titanfall, even newer call of duties with advanced movement have increased player health compared to the old modern warfares, Apex Legends, etc.

I think Halo is often skipped because it's just not relevant and popular. It's actually one of the easier games to pick up. But people complain about how floaty and sluggish it can feel, or they're not used to the aiming system. I've noticed new lets players complain about certain weapons but really love other weapons, but it's actually different depending on the person (Some people love the AR, others hate it while they prefer the sniper rifle or the Battle rifle). New players also tend to get lost in these games. CE I get because it can be repetitive, but even Halo 3, players get turned around in some of the campaign levels.

What's cool about it is not only does it protect you from attacks, but it also heals health. And when it takes too much damage, the shield breaks, so it's not OP or annoying to fight against. Besides firefight, you can also use it in some campaign missions and a lot of custom games have it like Desert Bus. Great support ability.
