Yes, and that path is the one most convenient to him in the present moment. That is the core trait that dictates his actions.
It usually works because the most convenient path is the one that works, I'm literally just making it so it isn't, so that the path that works is the one where he has to negotiate with people he hates and try to think of a solution that's convenient for EVERYONE, not just him, and thus, he will need to SACRIFICE.

That's silly, most of the characters in this series go through character arcs and make reference to past games. You'd have to disown your precious 2000s games to make this argument (SA2, Shadow the hedgehog, heroes, etc...)

Bro, that's a plot thing. That's literally the easiest type of problem to fix. I can just make up that they're more powerful now because they have more resources from the dictatorship, or that they're less moral, or just that they've been building up their strength ever since the end of Forces or something. This is easy shit.
And yeah, I do want Sonic to be the underdog in the story, that's how any inspirational story works. Sorry if you prefer your Gary Stu fantasy.
